Shocker!

Not sure what's worst - losing to Forfar in the first round of the League Cup or the fact that after liquidation the new Rangers are already losing an estimated £1m per month and "issuing pay cheques that even dwarf every club in the new Premiership bar Old Firm rivals Celtic". (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23471292)

First day of the season and already Craig Mather's position is under threat...

What an absolute embarrassment Rangers are to the Scottish game. And it's only day one.

With the amount of leaks in the "The Rangers" defence, you would think they would appreciate playing against a higher standard of plumber this year.

Know one of the investors with Zeus , says chuckles is back in to get the share price up, which is pretty obvious anyway

Also says jim McColl wants in but doesn't want to put any money in.

Fecking roller coaster all over again frown

Can someone please explain to me where all these so called rangers supporting multi millionaires were when they could have bought the club for buttons from the receivers?

I post this as a Southampton fan, with no Scottish football bias, but had a few questions:
- Do you think that other clubs will soon be in the financial state (I know about Hearts) but surely with Rangers now less involved, more of the money is going to players
- What is the feeling of the fans seeing Green back in the mix and how is this impacting McCoist and the team?
- The rivalry between Rangers and Celtic is clear, but without it, what harm is being done to Scottish football?
- Do you as fans spend less money now on TV/games/merchandise and on football in general?
- How long do you think it will take you to return to the Scottish Premier league and how long to be “competitive” (top 2)?

The reason I am interested is that my personal view is that many football clubs will not survive the next 10 years and mine was fortunate to find financial backing and that Players wages will have to be cut in the longer term. Coventry and Portsmouth are 2 which I think have very real challenges and the fighting in the Rangers boardroom does not inspire confidence that your team will also not have very hard times ahead

Don't hold your breath. We're a long way from finding out any of what's really happening and has happened in there.

Wouldn't be surprised if Walter is back in again before too long.

I do, the tv money coming in is getting less every new contract. A lot of spl clubs have unsustainable debts, if they don't go out the game there will be major downsizing and I can see the Scottish league turning into something like league 2 or the welsh league if things don't change,it doesn't help the Scottish governing bodies are run by imbeciles

- What is the feeling of the fans seeing Green back in the mix and how is this impacting McCoist and the team?

He is a ar**hole of the highest degree, treating rangers fans as though we are buttoned up the back with his constant bulls**t soundbites, isn't impacting mccoist as he is a horrendous manager anyway however greens mouth isn't helping the situation at all

- The rivalry between Rangers and Celtic is clear, but without it, what harm is being done to Scottish football?

there is no Scottish football without rangers and Celtic , from the 80's onwards its been a 2 horse race, season tickets are down all over, Celtic are closing their top tiers for certain games, no one will be able to challenge Celtic till rangers are back in the spl

- Do you as fans spend less money now on TV/games/merchandise and on football in general?

Nope still got my season ticket , had I found out green was returning I wouldn't have bothered, only good leagues to watch are the German, Spanish and occasional big game from England

- How long do you think it will take you to return to the Scottish Premier league and how long to be “competitive” (top 2)?

We will get promoted every single season tbh, our spending power outweighs every other team in Scotland bar Celtic , if we don't go straight up it would be an absolute travesty. It will probably take 1 or 2 seasons to catch up with Celtic depending on who the manager is.

For the last part I would agree, hearts are a stick on to go bust , sky money IMO has ruined football, the rangers boardroom battle is more a game of poker on what the price will be for green and his Zeus cronies to jog on. They are bleeding the club dry and have put very little (in the grand scheme of things) and wanting huge amounts out. Like my last post my father is friends with one of these investors and he claims to have made his money back, Zeus bought the club for 5million and green offered to sell 28% for 14 million which means he values the club at 50 million.

I agree with what you say and I think that football clubs which are now not really clubs, but business are going to struggle in the next 5 years. My own club nearly went bust and I can only see more getting into serious trouble. Football will change in the next few years and I guess that many more clubs will have similar issues to Rangers

Just found out the SFA have disadvantaged the rest of Scotland by shifting the transfer deadline away from its usual Monday spot after a weekend 31st August... how pleasant!

It hasn't directly, but the Scottish clubs missed out on all the usual deadline day opportunities as players get freed up by the "chains" of transfers.

EG Bale to Real, Ozil to Arsenal; Fellaini to Man Utd, Barry to Everton, etc.

What a load of pish.

It has nothing to do with rangers.
Scottish clubs don't have a pot to piss in, there would have been zilch signings anyway

Sorry?

Not necessarily money signings, but Scottish clubs were down 2 days of business because the SFA had to shift the deadline to keep the Rangers ban up.

Ex Rangers player Fernando Ricksen, 37, diagnosed with motor neurone disease.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24755758

ALS is one type of motor neurone disease a rapidly progressive and fatal disease. It can affect any adult at any time and attacks the motor neurones that send messages from the brain to the muscles, leaving people unable to walk, talk or feed themselves. The cause of the disease is unknown and there is no known cure. Around 5,000 people in the UK have MND at any one time, with half of people with the disease dying within 14 months of diagnosis.

Christ, 3 years younger than me and seems unlikely to get that far. frown
