Nasty.

How many points out of that lot then?
Norwich A draw
Fulham H lose
Chelsea H win
Swansea A draw

I reckon five points.

Given the choice of where we spend our money in the summer I'd rather it was on a world class striker and winger rather than trying to bring in another central midfielder.
You're on an agree with others roll today. hehe

Those are the areas we must look at in the window. Henderson had a good game in the middle at the weekend. Like to see him there more often.

Obviously, and that's been the same for the last few seasons.

How exactly do you propose we attract these world class players?

Name two world class players in those positions that are unhappy, and could realistically be attracted to LFC at the moment above the manc pair and Chelsea. Let alone Barca, RM, etc.

Whatever anyone thinks of Adam or the potential of Henderson, Aquilani is a much better footballer. I'd love to see him in a 3 man midfield here next season alongside Lucas and Gerrard.
He has one goal and just 6 assists to his name all season. In a side that is currently better than Liverpool - 2nd in the league and with 63 goals to their name, more than 1.5x the number of goals we've scored.

He might be better than a couple of options that we have, but in terms of end results, he ain't much better. So what would be the point for a player that doesn't want to settle in England?

Plus at the moment, we really need to be trying our best to keep hold of certain players, we are approaching deadly territory i think being where we are season after season.
Doesn`t matter whether we dominate or not, results are key.

I would also rather see Jonjo playing more rather than Aqua coming back.

I, probably like most, have just written off this season completely, a cup is nice but i do think two cups is just out of reach and that game will be the one where Torres bites us in the ass!

I genuinely think you might be able to get hold of some, there are some who won't want to go to City or Chelsea due to the instability at those clubs, we will only be in the market for 2 or 3 players this season and not neccesarily the same players as you, there are still some sensible players around who realise you are in a rut but you are still a sizeable club and if they were involved in bringing you out of that rut they would be Anfield heroes

For instance I think if you were to pick up someone like Junior Hoilet that could solve some of your right wing issues, allowing Henderson to play Centre (where he hasnt been bad IIRC) so one buy solves 2 issues

I know we dont traditionally buy and sell to each other but I dont think Berba would be a bad buy for you at the right price he still has a lot to offer (although I think he may end up back at Spuds)

Modric would do nicely. We can offer the following as opposed to Spurs:

- The opportunity to challenge for and win cup(s), based on this season as evidence
- European football next year, albeit the UEFA cup. Spurs could still potentially offer this next season but maybe not.. hehe

Sorry Max but I genuinely believe that if Newcastle can bring in talent then we should be able to also.

I remember last season Turan was a possibility. The season before Ben Arfa. The players are out there and from where I'm sat it seems we pay top money as well.

Clearly the established brand superstars are out of our reach. I'm not disputing that.

The other way to attract players is to bring a manager in that players will want to come play for. Bring the nutter from Bilbao and there's 3 players there that we could hope to sign.

there’s lots of rumours for us being in for Adam Johnston, he would be a good addition on the right side.

Not sure about a world class striker, its as Max said "who can we attract"? would like Iker Muniain or Steven Jovetic.

I got excited about that possibility in the transfer rumors last year. I agree he would be great for us - he's tricky and he can also whip in a decent cross. We'd finally have a decent(ish) set piece taker too.

Is Jackson Martinez a world class striker or prospect? Apparently we're in for him.

Given that:

a) Newcastle have said every player has a price.
b) We appear to have money to burn.
c) Newcastle would turn a good profit on all of the below.

We should pile in for Ben Arfa, Cabaye and one of Cisse or Ba, or both I'm not fussed. Not only would this solve many of our problems it would also really wind my girlfriends Dad up. That would give us a good platform to attract better players next year.

Not bothered either way on Aquilani. It could be that AC don't want to trigger the clause because for the sake of him not coming on as sub in one game it keeps their options open, it's not necessarily that they don't want him. We'll probably let him join them for £2m or similar peanuts after him not playing that game. We REALLY should tell them to go fork themselves if they try that on though.

I think Cabaye looks the real deal and doubt he will be there

I dont think Cisse and Ba will go anywhere, Ba as he is a huge risk with his knees, Cisse just seems to be enjoying himself loads and being adulated and he only joined in Jan

2 others who I think yourselves and other may look at would be Tiote and Collocini (sp)

I agree with you re:Newcastle, they've done a fantastic job. They haven't signed a single World Class player though, and that's the point I was disputing.

I read a Daily Mail link a few weeks ago. Think he's Colombian playing in Mexico. Rumour is we've agreed 9 million. 25 years old who seems to be doing well there. Whether he makes the step up etc who knows?

If true it will mean the death of our premiership proven approach of last summer. Wonder who scouted him?

Agreed, Adam Johnston would be a good signing. He's not "World Class" though.
