As a Newcastle fan it does make me laugh to see some of the comments on here.
I've got no problem with Liverpool or any other football club for that matter (bar the dirty mackems), but you seriously need to look at your team.
You have some fantastic players at Liverpool, who viewed singularly, are top class. My personal opinion is that your current issues have little to do with individual players and more to do with how they play together.
There is no secret to NUFC's recent success. Hughton, and now PArdew, cleared all the high earning superstars from the squad and brought in younger players with future potential. They then went about moulding the team so they complimented each other. It was a slow process at the start of the season, but they finally clicked around Christmas. While I have no doubt there will be interest come the summer transfer window, I don't see many players going if we achieve Champions League (wishing) or Europa. The players have a very strong team spirit and enjoy the unexpected success they've achieved, but tactics have played a massive part in that.

Because its far far too much to expect a team that spent over a 100 million to have won more than 5 league games at home all season.
I'm sure if Newcastle had spunked 100 million on the calibre of players we had their fans would have something to say about it.
I'm also 100% sure that if our manager was anyone other than the childhood heroes of some supporters on this thread, they also would not have the patience and tolerance that they now exhibit.
I'm looking forward to seeing what this Jackson Martinez plays like. Maybe we'll see him in the Olympics.

Big night for Chelsea tonight, thrilling time to be a fan and Im envious as I really miss the big big Euro games, its been a couple of years now and looking back we took the CL and the high level of games it delivered for granted (certainly I did). I would love the big nights to return - Anfield under the floods playing a top Spanish / Italian team or even a French or German one = special times.

I have one question regarding liverpool though, and I say this respectfully as a Newcastle fan. Does players like Adam, henderson and Downing/spearing/shelvey constitute strong enough of a spine to grab 4th next season? Im just not sure.
Suarez and Gerrard (whos legs are going) are the only one from the midfield and attack who would walk into a top-4 side when fit...
The defence is well enough I guess but you need more than that.

The spine is Reina, Agger/Carra, Gerrard/Lucas and Suarez.
Henderson, Shelvey, Spearing and Carroll are all for the future.
Adam is just a squad player. Downing is just disappointing.

Our defense has no place being in a top4. Coloccini is world class in my opinion, but simpson, williamson and ryan taylor are sPersonally, i would much prefer to see you get 4th than any other top 6 team right now.
t players who are of championship quality. We were on a luck streak the first 10 games, then had an average 4-5 months but its only the last 6 games that we have really started to play good fotball. Do I think we can challenge for top-4 on a regular basis? No. Not because we arent good enough, but because we will get robbed of players since we have a 50k/week wage cap. Aside from the Manchester teams, NONE of the top 6 teams have looked solid this season.
If we buy a new Fullback and a CB with steven taylor coming back from injury, I think we can challenge for top-6 every year. Top-4, not likely.
