Yep it did happen, and quite extensively. I'd hazard a guess that it was some of our fans using twisted logic to get back at the chavs for not respecting the Hillsborough one minute silence at the semi. (The chavs in general seem to have a greater allegiance to the national team etc).

North West Tom said: If he'd have carried on instead if celebrating he could have tapped it in. This. So. Much. This. Look how long the ball was there. All he had to do was take one step and put it in. He played well yesterday but how different could it have been.

The booing of the national anthem had absolutely nothing to do with twisted logic about Hillsborough booing & trying to get one over Chelsea fans.
It's to do with a lot of people from Liverpool seeing themselves as 'scouse not English' i.e. they are of England but not Enflish.
Long history of Liverpool fans not singing the national anthem & so on.
Not from Liverpool but have friends who are Scouse

Yeah, like I said I was just taking a guess. Had a quick look on RAWK just now and it's clear you're right - some "interesting" comments on there.

Classy. How on earth do you know if it was Chelsea or not? Jumping to conclusions, never a wise move.

I was saying that it was Liverpool fans booing the national anthem and you asked me how I knew it wasn't Chelsea. I replied with where I had seen it and since then, its become obvious it was Liverpool fans booing. My response was initially to your statement about the Kop giving Torres encouragement. I'm not well today but one of us is missing the point here....

Chelsea utterly toilet in 2nd half, like Liverpool were in the first
Congratulations Di Matteo, like the way Torres took his track suit top off to take some of the glory
Cannot stand Chelsea, come on Bayern
Even as a die hard man utd fan it looked fully over the line to me. Not sure who i want to win the champions league, i can't stand chelsea and the germans bombed our chip shops Probably side with the germans if it gets newcastle in the champions league.

I'm not sure it was a 'deserved' equalizer, either. The last 30 minutes Liverpool were excellent, but for the other 60 Chelsea were the better team. So really 2-1 seems a fair result.

I don't need qualifications to think a set of club supporters booing the National Anthem and using the excuse you posted above is ridiculous.

Well your comment, which was a reply to something else which I can't find, as you deleted it, seemed like you were saying the Chelsea fans were doing the booing, hence me asking how you know it was Chelsea or not?

Just got in so didn't see the start, find that hard to believe. Ah right, this is it. Sorry, deleting my comment didn't help but the top line of the quote is what I'd written. Not accusing the Chelsea fans at all. apologies for the misunderstanding.

What you posted reads as if you are denying that it happens. It happens and, yes, it's stupid. If that's what you meant, fair enough, but that was not clear from your post after the edited quote.

Liverpool's supporters got English football thrown out of Europe for years. At least these days it's just a bit of booing their own country.
