Tompkins might as well apply for senior cheerleader position. I'm sure he has just as many good things to say about how Charlie Adam has helped keep wastage down at the staff canteen.
There is not one footballing reason why a team with champions league aspirations would keep Carroll, Downing or Adam. Even Henderson for all the talk of potential has been worse than Spearing who at best is a squad filler.
Last year will be remembered as the worst transfer windows in our history.
Where did that come from? Who woke you up...There is not one footballing reason why a team with champions league aspirations would keep Carroll, Downing or Adam. Even Henderson for all the talk of potential has been worse than Spearing who at best is a squad filler.

You got 5 ex players playing in the last 4 of the champions league & you have replaced them with far inferior players , thats where your trouble's lies , There is not one footballing reason why a team with champions league aspirations would keep Carroll, Downing or Adam. Even Henderson for all the talk of potential has been worse than Spearing who at best is a squad filler.

With those 5 you certainly wouldn't be battling for 7 th with Everton Fulham & West brom

It wasn't a rant. You all know what Tompkins position is yet you choose to ignore his bias because it's pro Dalglish. Carroll has been one of, if not the worst signing in the history of our football club. So close...
Hopefully West Ham come up and off he'll go for 10 million or so to a Fat Sam style team where he'll fit in. Carroll's lack of mobility and limited game intelligence will mean he'll never be good enough for the style of play we aspire to. I'm not sure why that is so hard to accept.

A club the size & with the history Liverpool have , you know they should be hanging on to their better players.

Masch and Alonso I agree, the others were fading or meh - however they are all better than what we have now but that's not hard.A club the size & with the history Liverpool have , you know they should be hanging on to their better players.
A few extracts from a Guardian article I just read (link: http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2012/apr/2...
"Something strange happened in the dying moments of the semi-final. Fernando Torres had just scored the goal that ended Barcelona's hopes of reaching the European Cup final, his eighth in 11 matches against the Catalans. Defeated by Real Madrid in the league, relinquishing the title, Chelsea had now knocked them out of the Champions League. In four days, Barça had lost virtually everything. But no one left and no one whistled; no one stayed silent. Instead, the chant went up. Soon it was going round right the stadium: Ser del Barça és el millor que hi ha! Being Barça fans is the best thing there is!"
"Not so very long ago, that would have been unthinkable. There was sadness here, but no depression: the pessimism and self-destructive streak that has damaged Barcelona over their history was absent. There was little anger from supporters; instead, gratitude for what this team has achieved and what it might still achieve. What it represents. The league has gone, the European Cup too, but they resisted the conclusion that an era had come to an end."
"Defeat and the manner of it have led to few suggesting that Barcelona must start over again. Instead, there is a belief that Barcelona have broadly got things right even when things go wrong. Xavi has described results as "an impostor"; the play matters even when results do not follow."
"Asked what he would say to the young Barcelona fan crying for the first time last night, Guardiola replied: "Welcome to the club – there will be many more times, too."
This is what being a fan is all about in my humble opinion. There are valuable lessons to be learnt from the way the Barca fans reacted.
