I think he has always had the adoration of his own fans. Only now, he’ll get it even more. If he’s still enjoying playing then he should keep going, but know when is the right time to call it a day.

So that's likely to be that.

Of to relative obscurity in the desert or the States.

The greatest player that has ever graced the game.

Documentary just finished on BBC1… don’t know if it was on outside Scotland. How they won the World Cup - good little watch.

Pele has already played in the States.

Not much left to achieve in fairness to him. He hardly needs the money, would be nice to see him continue playing because he wants to and where he wants to rather than just for the most cash.
I have read it’s not exactly safe for a lot of these guys going back to play for their home teams.
Back to Barca for a nominal wage would be a nice touch.

I seem to remember him saying some years ago in a rare interview he hoped to finish his career in the MLS as he wanted his kids to finish their education in the USA. At least the MLS is probably a more competitive league now, than the middle east.
He's won everything now, so MLS makes sense from a family pov, middle east would just be about money, and he's not exactly short of that.

That would be my guess too.

Every contract he has ever signed was the one paying the most money.

Indeed, Saudi Arabia would be my bet.

Is looking the most likely now from press reports.....maybe he'll take a years money (like Ronaldo did) and then run off to the MLS for a couple of years afterwards?

Given the fact he is sponsored by the Saudi state I would suspect Saudi is the logical next step.

He's a fantastic player, but I've never believed he's as loyal to his club as some. He likes money and I don't have an issue with that.
I just never believed his crocodile tears when he left Barcelona.
I'd agree that he's likely to go to whoever offers the most.
No need for high level football as he would likely still walk into the Argentina team on legacy alone.

Very true and isn’t that where he was when he got suspended recently ? A cert I’d say.

Yep, and I agree, I also think that's where he'll go. A shame in my opinion. Continues playing into obscurity.

He's going to be up against some familiar faces as well, given that both Benzema and Modric are heading there are well for next season.

The Saudi league appears to be the next 'china' where players get signed for silly wages, but in this scenario the money wont dry up or regulations put in to limit spending by clubs.

Its a nice retirement fund for players wanting that last big payday

Looks like he’s probably headed back to Barca now that La Liga have approved it.

Anyone that thinks he would actively choose Saudi or America over Barcelona or that he faked his tears when leaving is a bit of a smoothbrain I imagine.

He spent 20 odd years there. I doubt they were crocodile tears.

Not really his fault that his market value is/was ridiculous, comes with the territory.

This may age badly.
