In my opinion he owes it to himself to try another league at some point in his career.
Yes, he probably should consider it, although I'd be a little surprised if he does.Goonowski said:
The overall standard of the Spanish league at the moment is significantly lower than the Premier League and the Bundesliga.
It isn't particularly. In terms of number of champions, none of the major leagues have a huge degree of variation in recent times & given the inequity of TV money distribution and levels of debt, Spanish teams haven't done too badly in European competitions.Take someone like Levante this year - Haven't got a pot to piss in (as in total budget quite probably not much more than a single player and certainly no more than a couple of them at the elite/monied), yet managed to get to the last 16 in the Euro Disney cup.
In English terms, most of the Championship teams are better funded, so they don't do too badly, plus they're not unique.
Barcelona is a great place to play your football. That's for sure.
However, what else can he achieve there? He's won everything there is to win at club level and has set record after record.
He'll be in the history books no matter what he does for the rest of his career and will almost certainly go down as one of the all time greats. Possibly the all time great if he does the business with Argentina or at another club abroad.
Barca did do a lot for him at a young age so I'm sure there is a strong sense of loyalty towards the club, but if I were him I'd strongly consider playing in England or Germany in a few years time and then go back to make a cameo appearance at Barca when he's in his 30's. If anybody can afford him. If he wanted to leave and had time left on his contract he'd have to be around £150 million.

You can add up to (and maybe more?) £100m in wages to that. Lorra, lorra money to spend to all bar a very select few, so unless he really wants to do the other league thing, it probably isn't going to happen. Then there's the where do you want to live thing, the feted anyway thing etc. Can't see him taking the compromises of Munich (if they can rustle up the cash) or Manchester (assuming money ceased to be of that much interest), so just leaves Paris (pointless in footballing terms) or deepest, darkest ex Russia (and some).
Unless he really wants to, gets offered comedy money, or has to, can't see it happening.
Must admit, I'm struggling to think of better places than Barcelona to earn £25m+ a year while winning things, many things, and being fellated regularly
I too agree. Not so much because he 'has' to but more likely that he'll want to, I'm sure, especially while he's in his prime.
I don't think it would be disloyal to Barca if he were to explain logically and while there's no doubting they looked after him in the early days, it would have been a logical business decision to nurture such a talent at the time. They've had plenty of pay back by means of success with him and they'll get a bumper pay day should someone have the cash to flash.
At least they'd know he'd be moving for legitimate personal reasons rather than just chasing the wonga.

Care to explain why?
The Premier League is crap, Bundesliga looks quite shallow on quality apart from Dortmund and Munich and nobody watches it. If you were him why would you consider moving?? He is clearly very settled, Barcelona is wonderful place, he gets paid a fortune, worshipped by the fans and the majority of people already agree he is the best player in the world. Players already get enough crap for not being loyal to clubs that give them a chance. No reason for him to move at all, with all that England is the last place I would want to move to!
