There's more detail being reported about Podolski....£10.9mil fee "agreed" apparently. Even in places that don't normally go in for out and out specualtion.

If that's true that is bloody brilliant news

Bit of a strange one this Podolski bloke.

This term he's scored 16 goals in 22 matches for Cologne which is great but...

He was bought from Cologne by Bayern Munich in 2006, only scored 26 goals in 106 appearances (0.24 goals per game) and so was re-sold to Cologne in 2009.

That ratio is almost in-line with Nicklas Bendtner's record with you of 22 goals in 99 matches (0.22 goals per game).

Now on the face of it you'd think it would be easier to score goals for Bayern than Cologne, bit like the difference between scoring for Celtic and Motherwell.

There may be mitigating circumstances for Podolski's seemingly lower proliferation with Bayern though as there clearly are Bendtner, the most obvious being that he's rubbish.

Anyway, I'd hold back on the bunting for a small while yet.

I've only seen him in Internationals to be fair and a bit for Bayern where he did more than score. I reckon he's still a good signing.
