Plus the fact that embedded in the article is an advert that says:

"So, Van Persie might be moving away from the Emirates in the Summer... At Sky Bet you can get the following odds on Van Persie playing at ----various teams & odds---- here."

What odds on tomorrows headlines being "Sky in 'made up transfer to boost income' SHOCKER"?

Brilliant!!!

The reality is that RVP's decision to sign or leave this summer will not be any different whether AC Milan are involved or not....they most definitely won't be the only club interested should he want to leave. He has undoubtedly already been offered £200k a week by several clubs....that is just the way that football is. RVP's decision will be based on I imagine three things

i) Top 4 finish
ii) Who Arsenal sign
iii) Wages

Now if any of those things fall down he is more than likely gone in which case Arsenal want as many clubs as possible interested in signing him....so far we've had Barca, Man City, AC Milan all saying they are interested.....so if he leaves he's going for a LOT of money. Good!

Am i right in thinking he only has a year left on his contract ?

Podolski is a great signing! Shame if you can't keep RVP to play with him!

As good as RVP is, I think he should show loyalty to Arsenal as he has had a lot of injuries and they've stuck by him. He's part of a team and if they don't qualify for CL he was part of the reason so maybe he will do the honourable thing and sign in the summer. If they're giving Podolski £100k a week he must be looking at at least £150k.

Podolski has scored more goals this season than the rest of his team put together.

He's been there eight years.....he's been pretty loyal. This would probably be the fourth contract he's signed at Arsenal......

They effectively paid Henry £200k a week for his last year at Arsenal. I'd argue RVP is more important to this side that Henry was to that one.

Wenger has said that Podolski is not meant as a replacement for RVP.

Wenger said:
"Our plan is to keep Robin van Persie even if we buy any player."
He also denied that the transfer has been completed

Wenger said:
"There is still no agreement. Podolski is a good player. I wouldn't deny that."
This was in a beeb article which still linked to the original one yesterday confirming we have finished the deal.

Mixed signals all over the place. I think a gentleman's agreement is in place. Given his form for germany I hope all is done before the euros.

Looks like Jens Lehmann is going to be coming back for a while, he's joining the coaching staff so he can start getting his UEFA coaching licence.
