I've not seen him play or heard much about him. Is he that good? Who would he play instead of?I'd quite like to see Caulker given a go and then you have Kaboul, Dawson, Gallas, King as well

King is dead (long live the King) - Gallas too old. Don't know how long he has left on his contract but he can't be expecting to play many games. We still have Bassong too.

"I've said repeatedly that Tottenham are my first choice""But Arsenal want me too. They remain a possibility if my Spurs move falls through"
Is this guy for real?
He'll get a welcome reception at the emirates after admiting to being a Spurs fan and wanting to move to Tottenham more than Arsenal. Not the kind of player I would trust in a derby. Not at the back. Wouldn't trust him there at all.
IIRC he properly supports Spurs, doesn't he? Meant to be a handy player and is reasonably priced. Exactly the kind of player I would rather you didn't sign.

Thats your back 4 Tekno?OK, I can kinda understand that Benny is an "acquired taste" but where's Walker???
Vertonghen/Kaboul/Dawson/Caulker
Keep King as Talisman
Let Gallas, Buffoon and that new bloke from Blackburn go.

Looking at Chelsea's league season, I'm not sure we did sacrifice the league for the CL. Liverpool away was perhaps the one game where that accusation could be made. Other than that, we finished 6th because that is probably about right for us this season. Could have finished 5th if we'd beaten the geordies at home, we played well enough but were undone by 2 wonder goals.
Our league form was better in the final stages of the season when CL glory was a possibility than earlier in the season when we were struggling in the CL and the league. We got a goalless draw at the Ar5e in a game we could have easily have won. Between the semi final and the final we put 6 past Q.P.haha when the eventual Champions struggled to beat them.
If people are saying we threw the games at Everton, West Brom and Wigan so we could win the CL, then it didn't work because we were crap in the CL around that time too. Plus we put effort into the FA Cup too to win that.
Our scenario was completely different to Liverpool in 05, who bearly turned up for a league game from January. And I think went out of the cup early too.

In italics. Your form in the latter part of the season under RDM was poorer than it was under AVB. There's a googlepic showing the records of the two managers - under RDM you scored less, conceded more and had less ppg than under AVB. I don't think its necessarily a case of deliberately sacrificing league form to win in the CL - with perhaps the exception of your game against us where the team selection was a bit thin. I think you were just sttish, generally, iyswim.
I've looked at our form in 04/05 and there's no significant difference across the season leaguewise. So your premise in bold is incorrect.
Off topic, but I don't want to start a new thread...
My uncle has been involved in football since forever. His life has largely revolved around Fulham Football Club where at one time he was Youth Development Officer. He has scouted loads of kids on behalf of many clubs...back when I was 16 and onwards two Cup Final tickets would drop through our door for my brother and I a couple of weeks before the big day each year..
Anyway, sadly he now has Parkinson's. He's a shadow of his former self, heartbreaking really.
Well, a few weeks ago, Fulham got in touch and apparently despite his condition he was treated to a day at The Cottage in the company of George Cohen (for you youngsters he was a kind of Kyle Walker ). However, the point of this post is to just mention that through most of coping with his illness my uncle has had many visitors from the football world, but one man has been there far more than any other whenever his schedule would allow, geographically. A man who's had plenty to to do other than sit with a fairly unresponsive man (at times) in a nursing home.
So from me, a big big thanks.... Tony Pulis.
