I'm going to make a prediction that modric will still be at spurs regardless of these rumours. I don't doubt that he wants to go, and I don't doubt that he's in demand, and I even believe levy is prepared to let him go. However levy never backs down on price so he wont back down much below the 40m he's been offered, and I just can't see anyone paying that much. I've probably just put the kiss of death on it

As much as I agree with you Mick, we should be able to bring a striker in without selling Modric. If Levy doesn't back down he could still be at the Lane next season (as BCM pointed out) and a team with Modric Bale Vert Kaboul Walker etc etc should be able to better last seasons 4th spot. Remember that Modric is contracted to 2016 (is that right?) and the man that so publicly wanted him is our new manager. If he goes to Madrid I would want a player in return though, their left backs a bit handy I hear.

We won't get a player from Real - they are on too much money. Take 35m and buy Mountinho and put in a joint bid for Oscar and Damiao. Otherwise just keep Modric. 35m should be the minimum.
