Kranjcar, Corluka, Pienaar, Bassong and Modric has been turned into Vertonghen, Sigurdsson, Adebayor and Dembele...not bad going at all IMO. Wish I agreed  My view is more that of the players sold, only Modric was a starter, with the others not even getting 5 - 10 mins at the end of games. The players brought in have added something to either the starting 11 or a much stronger bench.

HOwever- we finished 4th last year and at one point were almost contenders thus the squad was good. I believe that to be genuine contenders you need at least 3 world class players in your team plus a squad of good/excellent ones. Last year we had 2 world class players with a squad of good/excellent players and all that has happened now is that we have 1 world class player and a slightly biggers squad of good/exccellent players. No amount of good players bought will elevate the 11 on the pitch to possible contenders. Its only world class players that can do that. All IMO, of course!

That can't be true can it, that's most of your midfield.

Don't know about 'transfer listed' but heard VDV is off, can't see Parker going he's only just got here. They'd be mental to get rid of Lennon.

I heard about Lennon.
I think that AVB is trying to avoid a repeat of the Chelsea old guard dressing room issues by simply getting rid of everybody and starting again.
By getting rid of overrated fan favourites he may be able to get in some actual quality. As long as they don't mind missing out on CL football.
