Agree with all of those apart from point 3 wink
Where else could he be guaranteed to start every game, play (hopefully CL footie) and it not matter if his form dips for a month or two?

He's the star man at spurs and allowed to play without any pressure at all.

Re defoe, he's st and not good enough for spurs, unfortunately due to the (mis)management of ‘arry he's also the only striker we actually own.
At the risk of making EP's head explode I think he would flourish at Utd, although I would baulk at 40 million

Maybe just rose-tinted glasses, but I don't think 40m is anywhere near the mark for Bale.
Bear in mind he rejected that figure for Modric and Bale is 22 and better.
It just wouldn't make sense to refuse that figure for one and accept it for another with no pressure.

As much as I hate to admit it, I suspect this is true.
Although I also see an equal chance that United are going to have some awkward times ahead so Im not convinced now would be the right time.

Imagine if Beckham, Scholes, The Nevilles, Butt, Sharp etc were all constantly tapped up and linked with moves away when they were Bales age? Utd would have been fked and nowhere near as big as they are now.
Its not nice knowing that your team will never be allowed to build a future, not unless they get lucky like the two scum clubs I can't bear to mention.

I think with Giggs now struggling a bit SAF will be keen although Young is doing well but he isnt Bale, although GB would have to play on the left as a winger something I am not sure he wants to do all the time

Agree on our situation a lot of it depends on the flotation in August I think

With Berba likely to be going and you guys needing a striker I can see SOME business between us this window, as to who I don't know

He'd be better of at spurs for another year he'd be under a whole lot of pressure at Utd anyway you couldnt afford him and he wouldnt want to go there.

BSR the main differnce is that for bale we paid £5m, for modric it was £16.5m, the profit on bale would be huge if someone offers us £40m and to good for levy to turn down.

Also there are only a few clubs that bale can go to, he wants to go abroad when he leaves spurs and in this price bracket that only really leaves barca, real the milans and maybe bayern. Modric on the other had would be happy to go anywhere if he gets the money even a smaller club like chelasa.

And here we go again

Imagine? Imagine? FFS MOST of the stories have been about Utd players in the past, or did you conviently forget all the Ronaldo business and the Rooney stuff recently, you are not SPECIAL (well you may be but Spurs are not) people print bks about any good player to stir up interest and sell their publications for every 50 stories I read maybe 5 actually turn out to be true

Are you sure you arent Scouse? You have a proper victim mentality going on

FWIW I agree, I think that he could do with another season regulary playing although I do think he would get fairly regular starts as SAF does like to rotate and Young and Bale can both play in differing positions

I would imagine we cannot afford him right now though

Woo hoo! Got hold of two tickets for Sunday. Trouble is, the wife is coming with me. Nev er seen a professional game in her life or been in a modern stadium.

Not even sure she knows the rules. She asked me if Jamie O'Hara would be playing (she used to teach him)!

Might feel like a very long afternoon. Stiil, as she says 'come on the Spurs'.

I honestly dont think that is relevant and I don't think that a businessman like Levy would ever see things like that. He would only ever think in terms of current value and not 'profit'.
Its no different to selling a house or something. If you bought a house 30 years ago, you wouldn't accept an offer far lower that value on the basis that "I only bought it for £10k so its still a massive profit". I would suggest that reluctance would be even more emphsised by someone like Levy

You've done well. Ive been sitting with the ticket exchange open all week and this is the first match ever that I haven't been able to get tickets for.
Still 2 days to go but I dont fancy my chances given how few single tickets Ive seen on there.
