Powell is seen to be scholes replacement.

I'm not arrogant, just bored of other teams fans coming on here and stoking the fire on purpose. You want to voice your opinion Digikal then that's fine, you are a ManU fan.

Life long United fan!! I just don't come one here and air my views. We have been crap for a number of years now and its been masked by our relative success. We have been carried in recent seasons by our defence, Ronaldo and Rooney (one season) Our midfield is v poor and has been ever since Keano was past his best. Anderson, Fletcher, Carrick, Park et al will never be good enough to be of the level we want at United. Evra is past it, Nani will never fulfill what seemed like promise, Rooney is the most overrated and inconsistent player around - yes he does good things but his first touch is terrible, work rate has continued to decline etc. Phelan is clueless and we now play boring boring sideways football. Am I sounding like Digikal?

That's impressive. I didn't start supporting Chelsea until I was about 5 or 6. That was 44 yrs ago. I guess that makes me a Johnny cum lately!

I just tell it like it is, I respect your opinion as you arent just an armchair OOTer like most on here, but even you must be able to see how terrible this United side is.

What saddens me is how inevitable it is, every game we know Evra is going to give a goal away and that the midfield will fail to perform. Ferguson has no tactical knowledge, yes we will get through this group, but the first decent team we come across we will be out. Any decent midfield will destroy ours as we have seen time and time again and yet again its not been addressed.

A win that papers over the cracks of another boring and turgid United performance.

Keep playing like this and we will be out of the title race by November.

As for the depression, I am finding it painfully depressing being a United fan, its like watching a thing of beauty being slowly destroyed before your eyes and there is nothing you can do about it.

Every season we are getting worse, I used to think it would be hard to replace Ferguson, not any more. I would have Moyes or Mourinho in tomorrow.
I've watched better United sides play, and I've seen worse...much worse. I remember standing(!) in the United Road Paddock (karma, karma, karma, karma, karma United Road, United Road, United Rooooooad), being treated to the likes of Gidman, Grimes and Davenport. Oh the heights we reached...

I feel for your depression, I wonder if when United score, you cheer and celebrate or is it just a harumph and a moan that it's a step further away from the Glazer exit. Honestly, I've sat in the ground with moaning fkers that are only too quick to berate the players when they do something wrong, yet I don't see them cheer wildly when we score, it's almost like they're embarassed to celebrate because of all the fking moaning they do! Please digi tell me you're not one of these! Thankfully I've moved now and I'm surrounded by more positive people...I'd rather put up with the day trippers, that have their megastore carrier bags, replica shirts, scarves and Canon DSLR's and big smiles on their faces than the miserable gets!

I suppose you think Evra was at fault for the goal? I've seen it again and I don't think he was, he's playing tighter to the central defenders as cover, so he's left a bit of space in the wing area, the wingers exploited the space, been picked out and controlled well the good pass, got a couple of strides in and before Evra can close the gap, got an early cross in that Jonny Evans hasn't read particularly well and their striker has scored.

I think we'll do well this season I really do, let's not forget we have a playmaker in Kagawa who in your own words will be the MVP this season...I agree. Rooney and RVP haven't really got going as a pair yet, but when they do and Vale' is doing his stuff as we know he can we'll be fine. Celverley had a great game last night I thought, Fletch did OK but he needs more time. He looks fit enough and seems to be lasting the full 90. So I think we'll see him in more of a holding midfielder role protecting the back 4, leaving the attacking players to do their stuff.

Turgid and boring...hmmm...OK so, we haven't got the likes of Kanchelskis, Olsen, Coppell or Ronaldo bombimg up and down the wings, but we've got some handy players to come back and/or to come good. Like you I think Nani is a better more balanced player than Bale when he's on his day...it's just he's not having those days often enough.

Smalling/Jones to yet show, Wootton and Keane (the right name for a Utd player) look promising...

It's not all bad...

I am seriously worried if you couldnt see that Evra wasnt at fault for the goal, he jogged back and made no attempt to stop the cross. Its a mute point anyway he has been at fault for many many goals in the past 3 seasons, without doubt the worst left back in the league and yet first choice for MUFC

I never berate the players when watching the game and I go mental when we score, I dont ever wear a replica shirt and I wouldnt ever buy anything from the megastore.

There's a lot of unnecessary doom and gloom in here!!

Third in the league, max points in the Champions league and we are notoriously slow starters. One thing for sure watching Utd at the moment certainly isn't dull.

Yes we lost to Spurs but they were all over the place in the second half and it could easily have been another 5-3, it wasn't and they were probably, after 24 years due one at OT. We lost 4-1 at home to liverpool 3 years ago and still won the league, st happens. We still win trophies

Yes Evra has been poor, has been since he lost his brother late last year, it's clearly had an impact on his ability to focus, I feel for the lad and hope he can return to form. Rio is creaking but we will learn to compensate for his lack of pace and he didn't let us down last season. Jones and Smalling are weeks not months away and will benefit from the experience.

Where/who is the world class midfielder to replace Scholes? Sadly like Keano he is a once in a generation kind of player and as a result irreplaceable. Lets just be glad we can still see the ginger wizard week in week out.

I like the look of Cleverly, Kagawa and Powell and even Anderson has his moments and with Fletcher coming back to play at full fitness, perhaps, who knows the tactically inept but trophy laden Sir Alex may find away of knitting together a midfield. Oh then there is Carrick and (the aging but still good enough for the likes of Wigan) Giggs all for 2 central midfield slots. fk I wish we had some options in midfield.

Yes we are poor at the back but so what, we have a strike force of Rooney, Van Persie, Hernade and Welbeck. Feeding off crosses from the likes of Young, Valencia and Nani...

It is tough being a United fan at the moment it really is!

Don't be worried for me, it's OK. I'm fine with it. It's easy to pick on the guy who didn't stop the cross...sometimes you know when goals are scored it's because of the genius of the forward play and not the ineptitude of the defender that's the reason...

For me, Evra did the right thing, he was closing the space as opposed to going steaming in to a tackle risking the winger who had the upper hand at that moment, taking the ball past him. Fullbacks will try to halt play by blocking giving others time to sort themselves out in midfield and at centre half. What happened is the player crossed early and the striker was in between our two defenders who werent picking him up. Goal...

Fun this isn't it.

Good to hear that you at least smile when we score.

You do realise its the full backs job to stop the cross dont you?

He was out of position AS USUAL, he then jogged back whilst the winger had all the time in the world to get the cross in and pick out his man.

he didnt close the space or the angle, he did nothing, the guy is a complete waste of space

It's possible I may have played that position once or twice in my time...you?

Sometimes a fullback can't stop the cross you do appreciate that...right? I still say the centre half's were more at fault for not picking up.

yep, right wing back.

Of course defenders cant always stop a cross if they are beaten for pace or by skill then thats part of the game. Evra was out of position as usual and made not attempt to get back into position.
