Exceptional. Will that do? Superlative. Magnificent. Tremendous. Incomparable. Greater than great.

Very good. Still waiting for an answer to my question. If you descibe Barton as "a great player", please tell me what words you would use to descibe Messi?
An enigma, the likes of which we will be lucky to see play the game again.

If Joey Barton were a dog, his owners would have stuck him in a big sack with some rockery artefacts and dumped him in the Ship Canal by now.

The only thing more amusing than his Twitter rambling bks are the idiots who somehow believe he's a misunderstood intelligent genius for making them.

Perhaps that'll be Messi's epitaph. In years to come, inscribed on his gavestone:

"Here lies Lionel Messi....he was even better than the great Joey Barton"

In Spanish obviously!

Banned for 12 games. Shame it's not 12 years.

IIRC that beats the previous record set by Di Canio, good well done to the FA, let's hope QPR bin him now

Apparently he's going to fight the ban. Presumably by sticking the nut on it & elbowing it in the back.

Should have got a retrospective ban like Balotelli after the Spurs game. The FA do seem to make some very inconsistent decisions

Joey Barton's ban was calculated on the number of years he's been a tt since the turn of the century.

obviously I'm biased, but being sat about 20 yds away from where the incidents happened and seeing both, I cant really say what Tevez did was any different from what I see every game, dozens of times, from players on both sides. The FA seem to be of a similar opinion- and there's plenty there who would love to make an example of tevez.
However, what Barton did was unbelievable IMO.and while it is a "mans game" and "a contact sport" there's no place for Psychopaths.

You may be biased, but you're also right.

I wasn't quite as close to it as you were. I estimate my distance at about 45 yards away, lol.
