With all this press coverage you'd think he has a book coming out soon!

His new book must win first prize for the most ironic title....No Nonsense. This, from someone whose whole career has been punctuated on a regular basis with complete nonsense, from sticking a cigar into someone's eye to the latest betting scandal.

I'm guessing self awareness isn't one of his strong points.

If you hire Joey Barton you shouldn't be too surprised when Joey Barton turns up.

It’s alleged the wager – for Celtic to lose by at least three goals – was placed on Barton’s personal account with bookies Betfair."
He couldn't have made much on that, it must've been heavy odds on!
Aye. What are the restrictions on sports betting for the pros then. I would have thought it would be limited to matches he had an influence over.
For professional football it's a total no no here in the UK - Newcastle player Jack Colback was under investigation by the FA for allegedly betting on Atletico v Barcelona in the Champions League semi final earlier this year!
Correct. I worked in the media department of a Football League club and was severely restricted in what I could bet on. I could have made a decent packet when the manager changed last year but it really wasn't worth the chance of being found out.

Just in the news that he has been signed off on the sick.

Hope he gets better soon.

DELETED: Comment made by a member who's account has been deleted.
Everyone knows what Joey is like and someone has always been willing to take him on. He has been taken on in much worse circumstances than this.

Training ground bust ups happen regularly and they must have known Joey likes an argument. It didn't sound that bad an incident.

If Rangers were doing well I don't think Barton would be suspended and the club wouldn't be desperately trying to bump him like they are.

He's only back training with the youngsters as it's a legal requirement for the club to provided training facilities for players under contract.

Can you actually blame Joey in the circumstances for actually going off on the sick? The club are actively trying to get rid of him and have allowed this to drag of for ages now.

Looks like his tactics have worked. Agreement has now been made between both parties.

I wonder of there will be a confidentiality clause?

Cheap coffee machine anyone?

http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/joey-barton...

As a Villa fan I wanted us to sign a Joey Barton type midfielder - by that I mean a physical player doing the hard, dirty work in the middle of the park last season as our midfield lacked any real bite and you can't argue with JB's commitment. I was prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt as a reformed character in dire circumstances, but not so sure now. Steve Bruce has steadied our ship a little and despite what that Mirror article says, I'd be surprised if we were chasing his signature in January. He would likely upset the team dynamic.

(saves this thread for inevitable backtracking in January).

Some very interesting details on the John James blog .
Barton will blab at some point and reveal a lot about the inner works of Rangers

How accurate to do think that blogger is?

I don't pay any attention to any of the high profile bloggers. They all write the stuff they know will get lots of attention and appease fans on their side. The vast majority of the time they turn out to be completely wrong.

Joey Barton has been given a one-match suspension for breaking Scottish Football Association rules on gambling.

The former midfielder attended Thursday's hearing at Hampden and admitted to the charge of placing 44 bets between 1 July and 15 September.

SFA disciplinary rules prohibit players, coaches, club officials and referees in Scotland from betting on football anywhere in the world.

Oh FFS - https://www.msn.com/en-gb/sport/premier-league/joe...

Was looking forward to never hearing his name again. Would hope for Burnley to avoid relegation, but if that happens I wouldn't give a st...!

I sent him a tweet, which is rare for me, lol.
He is such a cheating prick and an absolute disgrace of a "professional' footballer it's scarcely believable.
How he is allowed to play, I really don't know.
It just shows the character of the 'man' after stamping on another players foot twice, he then walks into an outstretched arm, goes down like a sack of st (even for football standards...!) then punches someone afterwards.
He truly is a disgrace. And Burnley would usually have my quiet support against most teams but after signing him back, they need their heads checking.

From the media / TV evidence and his reputation, Mr Barton would certainly appear to have a personality / behavioural disorder (or two).

Maybe the medical, legal, FA and his employer, other football club professionals read this thread ...

Any reports of post match activities between the two teams or their fans ?

I'm a City fan and I was at the QPR game in 2012.
Just watching him in that game alone made me want to strangle him.
I could genuinely understand why people got shot in America so much when they're allowed to carry a pistol.
