Firstly I will say that I think he is a real nasty fker and an utter dick. However, love him or loath him, I can recommend reading his book "No Nonsense" which gives an insight into the life and family he came from, and is pretty shocking and an eye-opener. I read a lot of autobiogs of sports folk , (mainly footy ), and some are quite boring having been the perfect professionals which doesn't stir much interest. Bartons, though ,is more like a murder mystery of a read. Great read, but he's still a right tt !!
Thread bump: young Joseph was in court today over his bust up with Daniel Stendel but adjourned due to translation difficulties over video link

He certainly divides the Rovers fans here in Bristol. On one of their forums, several people refused to go while he was manager and many were hoping their team would lose to hasten his departure which is not unique but not something that sits comfortably with other fans.
He's "mis-stepped" a couple of times since he's been at Rovers; mentioned that some of his players have a "holocaust" when talking about having shockers which wasn't the best choice of words. That particular storm blew over quite quickly and there's mixed feelings about today's verdict. The big one is next week when he's back in court again regarding the incident with his wife.
I'll be in the press room with him tomorrow night (I work for Opta but also do the occasional match report for the national papers) and he's quite engaging but there's definitely an aura about him that makes you feel slightly uneasy.
