Thanks to all of those that wished my team well ahead of last night's home league game.

Drew 2-2 last night after being 1-0 and 2-1 up. Disappointed we couldn't hold on but in the end, a draw was a fair result and we are on the points board now. Home again on Saturday however I'll miss this game, and most of the others this season, as my work takes me to Bristol City and Bristol Rovers on weekends.

Being a Western League follower and from what he’s said it might be Hengrove Athletic.
But I could be wrong. It has been known.

Took my daughter to her first ever live match last night. We popped the 100 yards or so around to our local team, Winsford United to watch them play the reborn Macclesfield. We've not long since moved here from within sight of Macclesfield's ground, so she has a Macclesfield affinity (they did training sessions at her old school) and I used to watch them regularly as my old employer was the club sponsor a few years ago.

Attendance was just under a 1000, 90% of which was Macc fans (they had 2,500, which was the council imposed limit, at their first competitive home game on Saturday) and the roads were heaving with cars, coaches last night! Winsford normally get around 100 for home games, so quite a nice boost to the coffers, but entry was only £7 for me and a £1 for the kid.

Robbie Savage was there and won the raffle to widespread chants of 'Sit down Lily'.

Anyway, as far as first games go, not a bad one for the kid, it finished 4-4 and could have been 10-10 and there was a 22 player scrap/melee in the first half too, so she was thoroughly entertained!

Haha, that sounds awesome. What a memory to make and treasure. Me and my lad bring bad luck when we occasionally watch our local side (Chesham). In fact the only win we've witnessed came against our usual team (Fulham), although was under 23s.

I live on the Mendips and when not able to get to St Mary's I really enjoy watching Western League, Southern League and National South matches. Nearest of the former is Shepton Mallet who seem to have a strong squad at the moment and have started well.

Ah good man, pleased you are an aficionado of the non-league game, it has a lot going for it right now.

I know the manager at Shepton really well, they've made a perfect start really. John was at Hengrove before he went to SM and obviously Jack Fillingham's there having been top scorer at Hengrove for several seasons. Think signing Dawid Regula is a master stroke, both he and Jack should get 20+ goals this season.

I don't get to watch many games at that level with the Opta work but hopefully a few rearranged games in the calendar might afford me a few more games.

Yep both really good players IMHO. The fear (for some) is that once one or both score a lot someone will be looking to tempt them away. Melksham??

Really like non-league. You can talk with players, staff and opposing fans, rather than watch them in their ‘bubble’ in the Premier League.

Having grown up in Yeovil, I was a fan of them for almost 50 years but became disillusioned with the way the club was run a couple of years ago. Worked there, volunteered there and supported them too but it definitely lost something when we got promotion to the Football League even.

At my club, like every club in the WL, as you say you can mix with the players, chat with the ref and make a difference with your input. We've never paid a penny to our players which means realistically there's a ceiling as to how far we can go but the trying is the fun part!

Having watched the first two games (a hammering and a draw where the opposition equalised late on), I missed Saturday's 4-1 home win. irked

Ah well, glad the lads were back to somewhere like normal, both in results and personnel too. Looked (apparently) like we dominated the game & even the opposition chairman said if it weren't for their keeper, we could have scored double figures.

The league leaders away on Saturday which is bad news; good news is that I won't be there so three points incoming. thumbup

Resurrecting this thread to celebrate my local side, Worthing FC. Promoted last year from the Isthmian premier to the National league south & to my delight they have made it into the play offs at the first try. The club is owned by George Dowell, an ex Worthing player who became paraplegic in a car crash at 17 & spent £1m from his payout to buy the club in 2015 & set about transforming it on & off the pitch.

Since then we've seen stands rebuilt, the bar refurbished, 4G pitch laid & sustained on field success. How far it can go is anyone's guess but it's good times at Woodside road for now.

Congrats.

I've two reasons for joining this thread... live in South Shields who have just been promoted to the National League North, well done them. I suspect they've ran out of money though so only time will tell.

I'm a season ticket holder for Hartlepool (don't ask) who have just been relegated. It's going to be a long while until they're back in the league, the club is fked.

There’s a few clubs that are in the same position, look at Shorpe! I thought Oldham would go the same way but they’ve turned things round a bit.

I’m a Notts County fan, it’s been a great season, one of the best I can remember. Disappointing not to get auto promotion but say no more about Wrexham! I fear we’re going to lose to Chesterfield in the play off final but to be fair, I’m enjoying playing some of the teams in this division, I’d never been to Altrincham FC or Halifax Town!

Good luck for next season!

One can only hope that this is genuinely the beginning of the end of our slide into obscurity...

He can be a bit forthright on social mediawhen he's had a glass of wine or two but having flirted with administration in recent weeks, I'm very hopeful this is a huge step forward for the club. Sadly, we start next season four divisions lower than a decade ago but I think we'd settle for a steady rise back up again.

Both play offs AND play off final had as much drama as anyone could want. Kinda glad Notts C got it though. Just. Incredible to watch.
