Yeah, it was down to KK, the special K. Which makes him the KKK.

Oh.

Little bit of transfer gossip for you and probably nothing will come of it, but you have made and are making enquiries about Adebayor, wages being the stumbling block.

Based on recent deals, I doubt we actually are trying to sign him. We may just be checking in on the off chance we can help pay his wages.

It just shows how much it meant to him for the fans (vast majority) to have supported him through all the race row and other bks. Kenny deserves some credit for sticking by him too. He clearly feels the love at Liverpool and he will continue to be a great player for us. I just hope he channels his aggression in the right way and tries to stay out of trouble now. People will be hunting to provoke him next season..
Alternatively, he was offered a pay rise and accepted.

Tony Barret article - the times said:
Liverpool have awarded Luis Suárez a new contract that almost trebles his salary in a statement of their ambition and a signal of determination to curtail lingering interest in the Uruguay player from Juventus.

Six months of protracted negotiations came to a successful conclusion yesterday when Suárez signed a new deal that means his wages rise from £35,000 per week to closer to the £100,000 mark, making the forward one of Liverpool’s highest-paid players.

“To sign a new contract with Liverpool is unbelievable for me because I am so happy here at both the club and also in the city,” Suárez said. “That is important for me and I am very happy with my new contract.

“I am happy off the pitch because the people of Liverpool are good with me and my family. I try my best on the pitch and when you are happy off the pitch, you are happy on the pitch.”

Juventus had hoped to take advantage of any indication that Suárez was unsettled at Liverpool but by recommitting his future to Anfield the 25-year-old has increased the prospect of the Serie A champions missing out on their two main summer transfer targets, with Robin van Persie also understood to be ready to spurn their advances.

Paris Saint-Germain had also shown an interest in Suárez before their acquisition of Zlatan Ibrahimovic from AC Milan for £20 million. His retention, therefore, is viewed by Brendan Rodgers as a symbol of belief in the playing philosophy that the Liverpool manager is trying to engender.

“I’m delighted,” Rodgers said. “When you have the opportunity to work with world-class players it’s fantastic. There were certainly a few clubs who were interested in him but over the off-season he and I communicated well — and he’s committed himself for the long term here now.

“He’s really looking forward to playing in this way of working. As a manager and for the supporters, I’m delighted because I know how important he is for them.

“I think he’s one of the top strikers in world football. Hopefully, he was able to see our vision, in terms of what we’re trying to do.”

Another positive spin-off for Liverpool is that the retention of Suárez will help quell growing disquiet on Merseyside over the club’s lack of activity in the transfer market so far this summer. Rodgers will look to bolster a squad that has been weakened by the departures of a number of senior players and is expected to be depleted still further by the sale of others who have been made available for transfer.

Maxi Rodríguez, Fabio Aurelio, Dirk Kuyt and Alberto Aquilani have left the club since the end of last season and Craig Bellamy is on the verge of rejoining Cardiff City on a free transfer. Andy Carroll and Daniel Agger, meanwhile, will be sold if Liverpool receive their asking prices for the pair from Newcastle United and Manchester City respectively.

Agger’s circumstances, in particular, have been brought into sharper contrast by Suárez’s new deal as the Denmark player is no closer to agreeing a new contract with Liverpool, despite having entered the final two years of his present agreement, a situation that suggests his future lies away from Anfield.

Liverpool are hoping that City will not only agree to their demand for a fee of more than £22 million for Agger but that the Barclays Premier League champions will allow them to take Adam Johnson on loan next season with the wide midfield player’s wages being met by the Merseyside club as part of the proposed deal.

Should that transaction take place, then Liverpool would be unlikely to follow up their recent inquiry for Theo Walcott, the Arsenal winger. They remain hopeful of signing Joe Allen, the Swansea City midfield player, before the start of the season, though, and have also joined the race to sign Nuri Sahin on loan from Real Madrid.

Jack Butland is another potential target although Liverpool would not be willing to become embroiled in an auction for the highly rated Birmingham City goalkeeper

Why let the truth get in the way of some KK worship? Suarez just had his salary tripled. But that wasn't what kept him here.

Still don't understand the attempts to sell Agger. As for being shafted on the Allen fee, well that's inevitable with our inept ability in transfers.

Come on UF. I'm giving Rodgers every chance. It's not his fault we barely have a transfer budget after KK spunked a record amount on mostly dog turd last year.

If I have any slight criticism of what I've seen from Rodgers so far is that he needs to have a good scouting team around him else we'll only have players he's worked with signing for us.

Believe me, if all the Liverpool fans were Raja clones there is no way in hell Suarez would still be with us. Not for 5 X the salary! Here's a direct quote from the man himself: "I am happy off the pitch because the people of Liverpool are good with me and my family". So clearly the loyalty from the fans has played an important factor. But why let the facts get in the way of your incessant pessimistic rants..
