Such and such has "made more comebacks than Lazarus"

Yeah but none that will be remembered 2,000 years later,eh?

Also almost anything anecdotal about Brian Clough.

"I wish they'd stop constantly changing the offside law and go back to how it was" coupled with "Bill Shankly used to say if he isn't interfering with play, what's he doing on the pitch."

Errr...in the last 80 yrs there has been only one change to the offside law, and that is level used to be off, and now level is on. Other than that, no changes at all. There have been changes in interpretation, but that's been going on at the end of every season in loads of laws since football started.

Look at 1953 cup final. Stanley Matthews crosses the ball, and is then miles offside when Mortenson goes up for the headers. But Matthews isn't given offside, as he is no longer active...and that was nearly 60 yrs ago.

"Goals change games" despite being true, pisses me off no end as it seems rather obvious! I've heard this from Shearer a few times and it irritates the st out of me.

"It's harder against ten men". B*ll*cks.

"2-0 is a dangerous score". Really? I'd rather be 2-0 than 0-2, bloody numpties.

Yes, that makes me laugh. Why not go down to 9 and make it even harder for the opposition?

David Pleat is beyond question the single worst pundit I've ever heard for mangling player's anyone's names. On top he usually precedes it with the word 'young' as in 'Young Dembelly' etc. etc.
