Watched the highlights earlier (the 2min ones on Sky Q) - just in that 120secs you get the ball forward so quickly ... a credit to the EPL, so better than a lot of other teams some of whom are above you, who just don't move the ball forward at that pace and don't look to go forward as much.
Be an interesting game in the week - let's hope you can repeat last season's result

That was the whole game plan - it was identified to attack the space left behind the Newcastle right back. Be an interesting game in the week - let's hope you can repeat last season's result
It will certainly be interesting to see if Mourinho attacks or parks the bus...

They've already blamed Everton.
Just read about this. Stupid decision and the Everton thing is an excuse.
More likely to be them not allowing him to strengthen the squad and the board choosing the players.
I wonder whether he's feeling he should just have told them to stick it when Everton came calling. On the face of it, it sounds incredibly two faced of the board after the comments they were making when Everton were wanting Silva. I can't see them attracting any sort of half talented manager now, and it'll be thoroughly deserved.
As one of the few Watford fans on this board, and having watched almost every game, it's probably best I post.
Yes we are 10th, and as a Watford fan I would be very happy to finish 10th in any PL season. However, we've been 10th for much of this run. In that time the gap between us and the drop has shrunk from 'it will never happen' to 2 games from being in the drop zone. We have the 2nd worst form in the PL, thanks to Brighton being even worse. The only game Brighton won was against us. The gap between us and the top teams is now huge.
We have thrown away winning positions to Everton, Palace, Swansea - all of who were on terrible runs.
Silva played 4-5-1 to start every game recently (after giving up on 3-5-2). Every team knew how to beat us. When in trouble, he'd start to throw more players on up front, and sometimes (ie Southampton) it paid off. We have the 2nd worst defence in the league - lucky we've scored a few earlier in the season, but currently struggle for goals.
When Everton came calling, Silva's head was turned. At no point did he distance himself from the story or pledge himself to the club. Rumours say that apparently he even offered to take some players with him. At this point, the relationship between Silva and the board broke down irrevocably, and the performances on the pitch deteriorated. It has been truly woeful to watch, knowing the formation wouldn't work, knowing we'd struggle to attack and that the defence would ship goals.
There are some other circumstances which lend a hand to the 'unlucky' side of the story. 13 players out injured - but why is that happening? A terrible disciplinary record - manager has to take some blame for that.
We all wanted him to succeed - but it just wasn't going to happen. We want some stability too - the last 2 seasons have also started brightly and crashed in to dire. Time to change mid-season, thanks very much.

I really want a stable manager, but reality is the last few months our form has been shocking and we’ve been playing terribly.
People saying it’s stupid as we’re in 10th, well look how tight the bottom of the table is and you’ll see 10th isn’t as good as it sounds. Plus all the teams below us are picking up points while the gap has been getting smaller and smaller. I’m glad they’ve done something before waiting until it’s too late.

No messing about, Javi Gracia appointed.
The decision appears to have been made after we failed to beat Southampton (in fact, only rescuing a draw in the last minute thanks to a handy touch). Gracia was lined up, Silva was then fired after another loss, to Leicester. Gassing Station | Football | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
