Tranmeres 13-14 team is starting to shape up, we have added a solid centre back to the squad filling a space a few loan players had last year. And most importantly we have a striker on board who actually knows where the goal is and most importantly is owned by us!!

Made up Ryan Lowe has signed, he will do the job Cassidy done at the start of the season when we were top, and then carry on doing it after January when Cassidy went.

I'm predicting a slight improvement of 4th for us this year smile

Ryan Lowe is a quality striker at that level, Andy, he'll bag you 12-15 goals next season for sure. Get someone else up front who can provide the same and you'll have a shout for a playoff place next season!!

Now the fixtures are out, beginning to get excited. Our first four home games are Birmingham, Derby, Reading and QPR. Have written all the fixtures in my diary but ready to get the Tippex out on many of them. First to be moved will be Wigan at home on November 9th; they have a Europa League tie 48 hours before so it will be moved to the Sunday.

I bet you never imagined Yeovil would have a fixture rearranged due to European competition.

Have to say I am rather envious of you guys. In your position I wouldn't care if we went down with the lowest points haul ever, every game would have the FA Cup third round feeling - which also reminds me you now enter the FA Cup at the same time as the Prem teams, no potential banana skins!

That's exactly the attitude I'm approaching the season with, Boydie. Obviously the players need to be in a more positive frame of mind than that but the manager really wants them to compete this season, not to be the whipping boys! If they take his attitude then we might, just might, stand a chance.

Re the FA Cup, here's two slightly interesting facts. This season (2013/14) will be the first season in ten years that we've made the third round of the FA Cup and 2013 will be the first calendar year in our history (not including the two World Wars) that we will not play an FA Cup game. We were knocked out early last season and won't play in this year's until 2014.

So that means in all your years in the football league you never managed to win 2 successive games in the cup!? We've certainly been spoilt in recent years in the cup with victories over Newcastle and Reading away and taking Spurs to a replay (and taking the lead) at WHL, it's the highlight of the season for me - although the chance of being drawn to a village team is part of the big appeal and has provided some of the most memorable away days to date.

Your result will be the first I look out for this season - even more so if you take Marcus Haber off of us as is rumoured. I rate him but he was just left isolated up front in 80% (probably more) of our games so he will look a poor signing on paper.

After seeing your lot comfortably see us off towards the end of this season, your squad reminded me of how ours looked last season when we made the playoffs. A squad not necessarily full of talent, but full of very determined individuals willing to give everything for each other member of the squad. Had we gone into the playoffs with the same mentality you did, I believe we'd have gone up playing in a very similar way to yourselves so I'm keen to see how it might have panned out/will pan out in the future if Graham Westley can recreate another determined team.

Time to revive this following some PSFs.

After seeing the new squad in action, I now have some confidence Stevenage will be able to survive this League 1 season which I really couldn't see happening before.

Sad to see Coventry are to be liquidated frown There is a certain south coast team that seem to get away with murder yet Coventry get no preferential treatment

Not sure if this means they will have to start from scratch or what really?

Just caught the Football league show repeat on red button but missed the Colchester game

[again]and we are in their predicted relegation 4.

A win in 89th minute against Gillingham will do for now and an early 6th place in L1.

I will even try to get to a match this season.....rolleyes

I went to the tranmere game yesterday and have to say we were a disgrace! Walsall look like an ok team, they will finish mid table.

Unless we get our defence sorted then we are in for a fight at the bottom!

Off to see swindon tomorrow, lets see what their young team are like.

Stevenage 3-4 Oldham

Cracking game for a neutral. Shame I wasn't frown

Stevenage held an undeserved 1-0 HT lead. Oldham go 3-1 up. Back to 3-3 on 83 mins. Oldham win their second very dubious penalty on 85 to take the game 4-3.

I was very impressed with Oldham, they have some very skilful players but they all drop like a stone at the slightest of touches and sadly the ref bought it. What was worse was their habit of surrounding the ref on every foul. I think we ended up with 7 or 8 yellow cards which makes it sound like a dirty game but in reality, it was a cleanly contested match.

The ref was Darren Sheldrake. So if you see this guy on your programme be prepared for a non contact game of football.

Long old trip up to Southend from Devon on Saturday. 7055 attendance with 1146 Argyle fans which created a fabulous atmosphere. A bit of sick chanting of 'murderer' to Luke McCormick in our goal, which was drowned out by the green army with counter chants of 'Super Luke'. Shame the rest of the team didn't turn up. Never got going and looked awful. John Sheridan not a happy manager. Will get a better idea of how our season will progress on Saturday when we host Fleetwood.

Birmingham in the Capital One cup tomorrow night. Not expecting much from that.

Did you go to the match ?

Gillingham is actually closer to my home than Colchester so I could have attended this game.

awful result on the weekend against newport - but then again - new owners - great buzz around the team and some great signings etc was to be expected i guess. they seem to be under the impression they're goin up again.

then tonight - fantastic result

to go away to middlesborough and win is fantastic. the team showed alot of spirit to bounce back from that.

boro were apparently very very poor.

big game and i couldnt get the day off work - not happy about that - told him ages ago i wanted the thursday and saturday off.

To be honest, our expectations are high this season. We expect play offs at worst (but then every fan expects that for their team in August) and I was really disappointed with our display at Southend last Saturday. To see that John Sheridan clearly gave them a roasting and it worked will give us a much better idea of how things are going at our first match at Home Park against Fleetwood (tipped for promotion) this weekend.
