Good luck to Brave Fart, Bluedot and Catweazle this afternoon. Should be an exciting one
Just hoping Tubbsy does not become our nemesis. He was a big loss for us last season.
Looking a bit windy down there

Cheers. Not sure about the 'exciting one', another dull display at home. 2 goals in the last 5 home league games. I'm fully behind Cook but these home performances need to be sorted out, the natives are becoming restless Just hoping Tubbsy does not become our nemesis. He was a big loss for us last season.
Fair play to Wimbledon, a team actually came down here and gave us a game as opposed to the old 'park the bus'.
Tubbs is out for 4 weeks hence him not being around today.

Stevenage at home for us, dress rehearsal this coming Saturday.
Strange game really. First ten minutes and least ten minutes of first half, we were the better side. In between, you bossed it but never really made our keeper work.51 minutes, we score a beauty.
54 minutes, you equalise with a shot from an unmarked guy at a corner.
57 minutes, we go 2-1 up with a superb header.
86 minutes, you equalise with an equally decent header.
All in all, maybe 2-2 was a fair result although we will be more disappointed with dropping two home points leading with four minutes to go. My match report can be found here...

Stevenage players that impressed me? Gnanduillet is a handful up front, Pett looked decent and when Marriott came on, he was a real threat to our tiring defence. But Stevenage MOM for me was probably Whelpdale, seemed to be two of him and during commentary, I kept calling him by another name because it seemed he'd been on the other side seconds before.
All's fair in love and war and we have the FA Cup now to look forward to. Should be equally close and with a big carrot possibly awaiting in the third round.

Same old stuff from Pompey yesterday; Cook's shape relies on quick passing and a quality final ball. Yesterday we had neither! It was so slow at times that it resembled that "walking football", and the balls in from the likes of McGurk (hopeless!) and Evans (anonymous) were very poor. Why the hell he is playing Danny Hollands I do not know.Fair play to Wimbledon, a team actually came down here and gave us a game as opposed to the old 'park the bus'.

Wimbledon were organised and confident and showed great fitness levels I thought.
We desperately need to get Gary Roberts back to provide quality. Yesterday was so frustrating.
Congrats to Plymouth who just keep marching on.
Mike.

Cheers for that. Largely the story of our season. Play reasonable first half, collapse after half time but we've shown some decent resolve late on in games to snatch a point - I think we've managed 5 draws away from home from goals in the last 10 minutes but sadly still no wins! 51 minutes, we score a beauty.

Gnanduillet is on loan from Chesterfield and I hope we can keep him for a while as he brings the height and is a real handful as you say.
Marriott, we're all very excited about, been injured for 10 months - that was his first time back in the first team - and before that was out for 3 as well but we're hoping it was a complicated surgery that put the recovery back rather than being injury prone as he is an excellent talent.
Pett is either exceptional or goes completely missing and when played as winger is a bit of a liability defensively.
Whelps has probably been our best player of this season and the last and as you said with covering both sides, I can't imagine there are many players that come close to his distance covered in a game and his goal tally reflects that too given he is a winger.
Parrett is the player we rely on though. If he is on form I can't imagine there being many League 2 midfilders who could deal with him - as the Gills found out - but he too has been hit or miss this season and few said he just couldn't get in the game on Sat.
Saw the highlights and it looked both sides had reason to feel a bit gutted with a point - I'll certainly take the same result in a couple of weeks time!

Set up nicely for the Cup game now.
After Blackpools little resurgence (6 games unbeaten) it now back to normal, lost the next 5 league and cup games.
Couple of away games to come (Southend and Port Vale) and then it's a home derby against Fleetwood. Oh how we laughed a few years ago as they were going up the football pyramid hoping to get into the Football League. They are now 1 place below us in the league.
And the Oystons are £40k better off after another court win over comments made by a fan. There are at least 2 other cases ongoing.

Meanwhile, putting the cup competitions behind us (we can concentrate on the league now ) we have a BIG needle match this weekend, home to Exeter. On paper, it should be a straight forward win, but local derbies, and especially this one, give me the heeebeegeebees. There will be so much pressure on Argyle to win, not just because it's Exeter, but because of our league position. I'm also concerned that McCormick is more injured than just a niggle before the York game last Saturday. He has looked a bit out of sorts the last two games. Hopefully it IS just a niggle as he is simply immense in goal at this level.
With regard to Pompey, are the wheels starting to come off? Lavery is an excellent signing, he was brilliant for us last season, but seems to have been a bit anonymous at Fratton?

As a Coventry fan we have had it tough over the last few years. Relegations, More Relegations, Selling any player with any sort of talent. Moving to Northampton. Owners taking anyone they felt like to court and so on. Also we have not finished in the top 6 of any league since 1969/70 !
But finally things look like they are starting to change. Having Tony Mowbray in charge is working wonders for the club. He may only have a small budget but he is using it well an working with what we have and can get.
He had to use some of the playing budget to fix up the training ground as it needed a paint and basic maintenance !
Team wise they are quite young. But with a mix of old heads seam to be learning each game. playing passing and attacking football is something I have never seen a city side do. We have had years of hoof ball.
Do I think we will be near the top at the end of the season ?
Well there is a long time to go and Wigan have found there feet,But hopefully if we can keep up a good run and start taking more points away from home and keep our top scorer till the end of the season. Hopefully we can.

It'll be back to earth with a bump tonight when the Stags sort you out.

Seven defeats on the trot, and not scored in the last six.
If you gamble put Saturdays game down as Fleetwood win and Blackpool not to score.
Somebody please put us out of our misery and get rid of this manager and owners.
Our last 101 league games (Including tonights defeat)
scored - 76
conceded - 176
points - 69

Meanwhile, Pompey finally found their shooting boots tonight - although a huge "thanks fella" to Jonathan Greening for getting sent off just before half time; stupid challenge leading with his elbow. That made the second half easy. I wonder how often we (or anyone really) have scored 6 in one half?
Odd, because York looked decent first half, but gave up a bit when down to 10 men.
Right, bring on Wycombe on Saturday. Any Chair Boys on here?
Mike.

No-one has admitted as such http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
We played them last Saturday, at home, which finished 1-1. They were their usual cheating selves. Very poor show from them (as usual) - everything that's wrong in the game. And the ref and lino was pretty poor too.
Hope you stuff them good and proper, please
We're away to the O's.
