Massive game for Yeovil next Tuesday night in the replay at home to Carlisle United. Win and we entertain Everton in the fourth round, would be a possibility for TV broadcast too. Would also be the third season running we have played a Premier League team.
Lose and I might cry.
Bad form to quote myself but matchday has arrived. Lose and I might cry.
Might well be interviewing Martinez for our programme this time next week if we get a positive result. The game has been selected for BT Sport coverage regardless of whether us or Carlisle get through and the neutrals will be rooting for Carlisle after all their issues this season with flooding. To be honest, I'd be rooting for them too if I didn't support YTFC but tonight, I'm being selfish.
COYG.
Crazy, crazy game packed full of incidents but ultimately it's Carlisle who now get £211k and the chance to play Everton.
Not sure if anyone's seen the highlights. Decent game early on and we take the lead on the half hour with a cracker. All is going well till 78 minutes when Carlisle equalise.... for some unknown reason, there's a mass brawl right after the goal in which Jabo Ibehre "clothes-line's" our keeper but the lino on that side doesn't help his referee and both men get yellows.
Not to worry, we get a penalty three minutes into stoppage time. I almost lose my voice at this point with excitement and do some damage to my commentary mike then bloody Francois Zoko (ex Carlisle) produces the worst penalty I have ever seen live. Stupid stop start run and the ball goes four yards wide. He's out of contract today, I'd get rid of the
Both sides lose a man in extra time; our red card is down to the Carlisle player screaming like a baby when the two players go in 50/50. I saw Alex Lacey's shin pad last night and it has a hole in it where the studs partly pierced it; if our Lacey had reacted the same way, both would have received equal punishment.
Then the final ignominy. Ibehre swings an arm out and catches Connor Roberts in the face right by the lino. "It has to be off, it just has to be off, ref" says everybody but ref, again not helped by his assistant, calls the captain over for the final warning talk. Unbelievable. Lacey is off after one tackle, Ibehre gets just one yellow for two red card offences.
Penalties were good up until Matt Dolan, who missed one in Saturday's loss at Morecambe, hits the post. That Ibehre scores his and we lose 5-4 on penalties.
Sorry for the long post, I actually feel better now.

Harsh, never realised you missed a pen 3 mins into stoppage time, gutting Not sure if anyone's seen the highlights. Decent game early on and we take the lead on the half hour with a cracker. Good win for us, it set's us up with a decent looking home tie against Bournemouth.
Only hope it doesn't deter from the promotion push, we could be a long way behind an automatic spot even though we'll have some games in hand. Big game this Saturday home to Oxford, pretty much sold out I think.

What a calamity! Sorry to hear Mart, I only tuned in for the shootout on the Beeb webste. The last pen you missed was terrible, seemed very limp and got pushed onto the post. Not the same guy surely?!
Bluedot - yes, for some reason it doesn't show up on the BBC mini-highlights. It was 90+3 and the final whistle went about ninety seconds later.
HR - different penalty taker. The one who missed in the match (Francois Zoko) didn't take one in the shootout. The one player that did miss in the shootout (Matt Dolan) had missed one in the game on Saturday at Morecambe so presumably they changed the regular penalty taker.
The pic below should show the moment our keeper was clothes lined". Ibehre comes flying in from the left and has his arm around Krysiak's neck while he is tussling with Asamoah. Ref in far left of the picture in yellow.

Agreed Bluedot, we were much the better team last night against, er, Ipswich reserves. Clearly Mick McCarthy doesn't care about the FA Cup.Only hope it doesn't deter from the promotion push, we could be a long way behind an automatic spot even though we'll have some games in hand. I'm quietly confident about Saturday against Oxford. We have Burgess back, Roberts is looking good now he's back and Bennett is on fire. Plus, Kemar Roofe just might be on his way to Wolves?
I'm optimistic about the next few weeks, bring it on!!
Mike.
Agreed, see my post above for misplaced optimism! Play offs is our best hope now, but I think it's another season in League 2 for us. Paul Cook needs a few players who won't be bullied by the likes of Barnet - we are too lightweight. And what he sees in Michael Smith I really do not know. Perhaps it was expecting too much to get promoted with a brand new squad?
At least Tubbs can't ask us to bite the pillow this time. After our comical loss there last time, I'm sure we'll find a way to blow it.
Get four points from the next two games and our season may get somewhere, less than 3 and it's all but over. Our genius "get a useless, naïve, manager in with 50 thousand loanees" approach will be shown to be a failure. Ho hum.
Come on United!
