Feel for you. Not the first time this weekend some dubious ref'ing has been seen.

That Deadman ref is constantly subjected to abuse.

We (Stevenage) were saved by a linesman making a ball up on a very marginal offside to keep the game at 1-1. We then went on to win.

Given we have (I think) 15 new players and our fans still don't believe we are playing even close to our potential, 11 points from 5 having won all 3 away games is a bloody good start.

I can't help but think we won't be able to keep this up, but equally, I don't think we are playing to full potential either. Coventry away yesterday was awesome (and I was on tv a few times too) - just a little gutted it was an early kick off as we found a great pub about 1 miles up the canal from the ground that I could have happily spent some more time in.

Well that was a good week. Manager and player of the month for August and then a 2-0 win against Coventry sending us back to the top of the league. Still can't see this form continuing though!

Tough game for you next Saturday away to Crawley. I am helping a mate out on that day and won't be able to make the match but will be keeping a close eye on the Sky Sports App.. I can't call this one, we had a good win at Preston yesterday but were stuffed 0-3 by Portsmouth in our last home game.

Wouldn't read too much into that result, Dave. You had an absolute shocker of a ref that day and if it was 11 v 11, you would have sneaked a point at least.

Cheers Mart. I think my feelings on Mr Deadmans refereeing in that game are quite clear in earlier posts on this threadsmile

Nightmare first 10 saw us 2-0 down to Crewe. Dominated mostly for the rest of the game although Crewe did occasionally look threatening on the counter. Chuks Aneke had a moment of madness and deservedly got sent off which allowed us to play it around a bit and create an opening for the equaliser.

Then massive controversy. A 25 yard shot takes a deflection and falls to a midfielder running at goal, he scores. We go mad, players go mad, referee runs back to the centre ready to kick off. Crewe players surround the lino. Referee then runs over to the lino, we assume to book/warn away the Crewe players. But no, the referee blows his whistle, arm in the air for indirect free kick and the lino raises his flag. WTF!

We can only assume the lino didn't flag thinking the deflection came off of a Crewe player but the referee saw it come off of a Boro player. I guess he asked the lino if he was offside when the deflection happened and the lino said yes and so the referee overturned it (replays have actually showed the player was onside when the deflection happened anyway!!!).

Now, if the lino gave the offside we'd have felt gutted but it's perfectly acceptable (and would have evened out the luck we ha at Cov last week), but, had the Crewe players not thrown a hissy fit, there is NO WAY that goal would have been over turned, THAT is a piss take. Respect the ref, they can FRO (this was Gavin Ward however, a little st stain on the game that I remember from our conference days as a power hungry little tosser).

However, I'd have taken a point hen we were 10 minutes in and we are still unbeaten - albeit with 3 draws at home and 3 wins away (mental!) - and I still don't think we've found a system that suits us.

. We (Crawley) conceded a late penalty against Colchester which cost us 2nd place. Should be a cracking match on Saturday against Tranmere who had another good result tonight. Good luck Andyjc, one week of gloating rights to the winners!

Having supported tranmere for all my life, this run will not continue. At some point we will get absolutely dicked, I predict it will happen Saturday! I'm hoping for a draw though.

Although we are top and have started well, our aim should still be avoiding the bottom 4!

Good luck on saturday

It is far too good to believe - we haven't been anywhere near the top of the league since I used to go and watch in the days of Aldo and Nevin.

They were the days I started going with my dad. It would be nice to get back in the championship, just to get the bigger crowds from the away fans

REALLY???

Not heard anything about the game but a 2-5 home defeat doesn't make brilliant reading. Even worse, bloody Swindon cracked 4 in.

Well done Andy, Crawley are now learning it is not going to be easy for them in this League.

Tranmere are looking very good. So many goals for already!

I'd have taken a point from Donny away at the start, but it's a little gutting when you take the lead and concede a quite sloppy goal. A little disappointed the manager went there with no intention of getting 3 points going by the squad selection.

Still, 8 games in, 2 points per game and unbeaten. Bury at home should be routine enough if they still haven't got a manager which would make Notts County away on Tuesday HUGE.

Beaten 4-0 by Swindon, fans booing, manager questioning player's commitment - oh dear frown

With the money we spent over the summer, new backers, Harry hanging around, it's all gone wrong already!

And as bad as you were on Saturday, you outclassed and outpassed us a fortnight ago and we escaped with a 1-0 defeat... frown

Yeovil game? Your description is Bournemouth in a nutshell - no hard, cutting edge. Play nice looking football, but ultimately no end product.

bowtie

Spot on. Kind of frustrating in a way seeing you keep the ball so long yet you didn't ever really look likely to add to your goal.

Shaun MacDonald is quality though. You outbid us to get him last summer and we missed him big time last year. Real nice guy off it too; always asks after me and the boys and gave me a big hug when I saw him at the recent game.
