It looks like we're going to sign Nicky Ajose. I remember him being useful for you guys. Something to be excited about?
I'd say so yes, was a huge part of our promotion the season before last. Seemed to lose his way last season after an early injury at Peterborough and then loans which didn't work out.

I'd gladly have him back.

Brilliant! Well the O'Driscoll era didn't last long. Two months at Crawley and now he has gone back to Nottingham Forest..
hehe was just coming on to post something similar.
So that leaves us with Stevie Coppell as Director of Football - whatever that isconfused
Well it now looks like Coppell is going to join O'Driscoll at Forest!

Swindon fan here hoping for a good shot at automatics again. This league is alot weaker (but more competitive) now than when we were last in here.

How long do you think Swindle will hold on to Paulo for? It would be brilliant if he took you all the way, but I fear a strong start to the season for you,and he will be safely ensconced in a very comfy chair at a big spending CCC or struggling Prem club - Hammers perhaps?

Looks like we're shipping Craig Reid out on the cheap to Aldershot after a rumoured fall out with the new manager.

I'm gutted. I think this guy has huge potential and will be prolific if he can stay injury free for the 'shots.

It's really put a dampener on the new season for me frown

Another Swindon Town fan here. All the noises Paolo is making suggest he's here for the long term, or this season at least. The board have really backed him and seem to be basing all their investment decisions on going straight up this season. Some older wise heads (Alan Navarro, Tommy Miller and Gary Roberts) have been complemented by a couple of hungry youngsters (James Collins and Andy Williams) in the transfer window and most of our business was done before the start of preason. Top 6 will be a minimum objective this season. CAN NOT WAIT!

Oxford fan here. Can you tell?
This thread features too many Swindon fans for my liking! ;-) Thanks for the 6 points...
In all seriousness, I would be very disappointed if we are not in or around the top 3 this season, minimum aim is Play Offs
Cheers

Haha, I live in Manchester and went down for the Oxford home game. Was a disappointing day to say the least. I'd do it all over again if it meant the same outcome come May though!

Oxford, top three? rofl

Not a chance.;)

Meanwhile, my team Plymouth are playing Pompey next week in the cup. With Pompey only having 8 first team players signed on, we might actually manage the next round for the first time in five years.

Then again, we are brilliant at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory!!

Plymouth are doing a fans re-united match against Pompey on Tuesday. If any Pompey fans want to come/let me have something Pompey to wear, I'll happily contribute to your Trust fund.

Well as an Aldershot fan, I thought it was the right time to wish other real football fans a good season. As the saying goes at my club, "Let the roller coaster begin"

Well the season kicks off tomorrow, hoping for a good result against Hartlepool after our win against Brighton. Di Canio has already started his mental outburst by stripping the captaincy from Paul Caddis as he is not fit enough but things are one extreme to the other with him so dont really read much into it!

Tranmere fan checking in. We have changed our squad a lot this summer. I would take mid table but I don't think the playoffs are unrealistic if the squad stays fit.

Thing is, Andy. L1 and particularly L2 are such a crap standard that anyone can beat anyone. We played our youth team against The Shrews this time last year and gained a point at their place. Their fans must have been utterly disappointed at not beating cash strapped and in serious trouble Plymouth. Yet what happened? Promoted and we went on a run of 9 points from a possible 27 and stayed up.

I really wouldn't want to predict who gets promoted/relegated until the end of February!

How did everyone do then?
A (slightly) underwhelming opening 1-1 at home to Carlisle for Stevenage. Bit of a knock down after such an encouraging performance mid week in the cup. Carlisle looked pretty decent though, they should comfortably be in the top half this season.
