Doncaster having an unbelievable run. One win off setting a club record.

19th to 5th in I think 16 games. Playoffs almost guaranteed and if you were the other teams I don't think you'd fancy facing them.

Was there on Saturday, brilliant second half to come back from 2 goals down. Its a shame the manager will almost certainly be poached, again.

I’m glad we played you earlier in the season, beat Donny home and away! Fantastic turn around though, we’ve done the opposite!

Afternoon all. As the season for some of us ends tomorrow, how do we think its gone? For me FGR and their Chairman are back where they belong and good riddance. We beat Mansfield, Stockport and The Deadpool Red Dragons Spice Town FC all in a few weeks but lost others games to teams we really shouldn't, back to FGR with that one. I just wish we were a little more consistent banghead The floor is open....

For my team Exeter City it’s been truly bonkers. We started off well with a goal inside 30 seconds of the season starting and had a good few weeks of good results. We got to the fourth round of the league cup knocking out Premier League Luton along the way, but also suffered a 9-0 tonking at home to Reading in the whatevertheautoglassiscalledthesedays, which came in the midst of a 100 day run without a win scoring a mere three goals at the time.

Many supporters - me included - wanted the manager gone: a 7-0 defeat at Bolton then a 3-0 defeat at second bottom Fleetwood made my mind up for me. However the club stuck by the manager - as much by luck as judgement - and since Christmas our form would have seen in the top three, and this from, I think, one place above relegation. If we don’t lose our final game tomorrow at home to Oxford we’ll finish the season on a ten match unbeaten run with a record for us at L1 level of ten away wins, a better points tally and position than last season and about 20 points above relegation.

A remarkable turnaround and a terrific end to the season. It’s genuinely exciting to see what the manager can achieve next season - personally I think he’ll be disappointed if he doesn’t finish in the top ten. Me, I’ll be happy to finish somewhere near a play-off spot but will be unhappy if we’re not in the top half of the table.

You may be right on that. However there will be, I think, a fairly sizable majority who will point to this season’s turnaround and say that if he did it then then he should be given the chance now. They would have a point. Plus, as a Trust run club, we’ve never sacked a manager, and even during arguably the worst run in the club’s history this season the board still stuck by him.

It was over 20 years ago that we last sacked a manager - after the run this season I genuinely wonder what it would take to say enough’s enough.

So, even though, sadly, you’ve no place in this thread for another season at least, tell me about Plymouth this season and next. I’d guess it must at least be a shock after winning the league in the end quite comfortably last season.

I have no right to comment on Argyle in this thread, even though we are near neighbours and rivals, you are right. A bit of a shock would be correct! Poor replacement for Schumacher was the problem.

Didn't you serve notice on Tisdale? Effectively sacking him?

Hopefully we continue this form and win the final at Wembley! No idea where this has come from but I’ll take it!

We did serve notice, however the reason was to end his two year rolling contract. I’d suggested it years prior to it being served, the reason being it being a rolling contract, which neither helped or protected anyone.

What we did was to serve notice but also to simoultaneously offer a revised fixed term contract. He was given a deadline to decide one way or the other, and typical of the man he waited until the end of his notice period on his roller to say he wasn’t signing the fixed one but leaving to join MK, ironically on a two year roller.

So no, he wasn’t sacked, he just chose not to accept a revised offer.

Got you. I thought it was a rolling 12 months. No idea it was two years. He had promotion bonuses that couldn't be recinded didn't he? Conference to L2 to L1 and back down all the way again and up again to L2. Most highly paid manager in L2 by some margin at the time I heard.

Sorry to derail the thread chaps!

Had you asked us at the start of the season finishing (likely) 3rd would have been solid progress after we scraped into the playoffs last year. The reality is very frustrating that having 3 games in hand and a couple of points back we should be where Derby are now. Performances have been exhilarating or teeth gnashing. We still can't work out whether Ian Evatt is brilliant or believing his own hype. The tiki-taka & possession is a bit like Spain or City, impressive on paper but ultimately not as entertaining as the end to end stuff.

We can't really complain given the last few years of near extinction and as I was discussing with mates this week, if we did go up we really don't want to be in that PL vortex again. Top of L1 / middle Championship is not a bad place to be. I do think L1 is going to be very much more difficult next year than this so if we don't go up it will be challenging but still fun for another season.

There is a hell of a step up from L1 to Championship. Much bigger than you expect.

Leicester came down with the same budget as they had in the Prem. Argyle have the smallest budget on the league - L1+ if you like.

Almost. Two year roller but Conf > L2 > L1 > L1 > L2 > not much then back to back L2 play off finals then MK. Then Matt Taylor took over, got another play off final then finally promotion to L1 before going to Rotherham. We didn’t go to the Conference a second time once we got to L2.

Apologies. Not a fan, so not that invested.

Not that much of an Argyle fan really. Oval ball is my thing first and foremost.

I'll just copy & paste my posting from a year ago,

In fact with the downpour predicted I think we'll be saved the humiliation of not even managing a supporter lead revolt and a storming of the pitch at match end,

We've beaten the Beamish line ... Can it get any worse frown

We were on for the playoffs at the very least until the new year when we lost our onlybest striker to Ipswich. And basically downhill from there.

So mid-table, with a +9 goal difference. I think the nearest to us is 0, so shows how we had a strong first half of the season.

And last game at home today against Walsall. So that's another 3 points dropped rolleyes

Blackpool f****d that up. Needed to win and then hope 2 of the 3 teams directly above us dropped points.

All good when we score after 4mins, Then do nothing else and manage to concede 3 but it doesn't matter as Barnsley and Oxford are both leading by 1 in their games. We score a 2nd lucky goal in injury time, but still doesn't matter as the other 2 teams are still winning, but oh no, Barnsley concede 6 mins into injury, so if we had won we would have got 6th place on goal difference banghead

Our home record this year has been good (4th best) but away we've been nothing special (14th). Away we just seem to play not to lose, which we did 12 times.

Oh well, maybe next season.

We’re away at Forest Green, nailed on win I thought so put a bet on Notts to win and score 2 goals or more, 0-0 with 20 mins to go. D’OH!
