Its the classic Mourinho head game. He's going to use it all season...use the press to make the opposition think about the upside of Costa not being available, then trot him out in the starting 11 for a nice confidence-knocker on the day.
Well, we'll see. If it's hype, he'll be playing against Man U, if it isn't, he won't.

To be fair, I don't recall Mourinho saying Costa would not be available for the Utd game?

Can anyone post a link with him saying that's the case? If not.... Why does it have to be Mourinho mind games?

I don't think he actually said that. Some stuff on the BBC site (which I can't find anymore) of him being ready for the next Spain game, but that's just JM taking the mick.

For all that, are Man U going to be harder opponents than Maribor?

Costa back in training, and COULD be fit enough to face UTD.

Bloody hope so. Utd without Rooney, but I don't think that's a great loss to be honest. They still have Falcao and RVP (who's also been quite poor, generally).

Should be a good game.

Schurrle could take on the striker role if Costa doesn't play.

Man City losing at West Ham too. With Arsenal starting terribly, United not exactly strong either (what have I just said....), Liverpool been pretty poor etc it's currently being gifted to Chelsea. Long way to go, mind but the potential to go 8 points clear of title rivals after 9 games would be comical.

There are a few other options. You could play Salah in the middle, or even play Fabregas as a false 9.

What's the score with Remy anyway? How long is he out for?

I was forgetting Southampton. Sorry. But does anyone really think they'll be there in the end?

(Would be interesting if they were, though.)

I'm a Saints fan and whilst I don't think we will be there at the end, it's great to be in the mix at the minute and I also like seeing West Ham upsetting the apple cart. It makes the league more interesting and also means that other teams get a few moments in the spotlight

If Chelsea win today then their title rivals are really handing it to them at the moment. City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Utd all having very poor starts to the season. Chelsea have the ability to go 8 points of the nearest title rivals after just 9 games is ridiculous and turning into a 1 horse race already (Southampton are doing VERY well, but I do feel the depth of squad isn't there to cope if they pick up a few injuries).

This season title race is only between Chelsea and City. A teabag stays in the cup longer than Arsenal, and Liverpool are just looking to secure fourth spot, as are UTD.
Southampton have been brilliant so far and I genuinely hope they manage to get into Europe for next season.

With City losing yesterday, we HAVE to take advantage of their loss, I'm pretty certain there are going to be lots of ups and downs still to come, so not getting overly confident just yet.
