Matic vs Makelele
Cahill vs Carvalho
Azpilcueta vs Gallas
Oscar vs Robben
Coutrois vs Cech
Fabregas vs Lampard
Costa vs Drogba
Terry vs Terry

I would struggle to pick between these options and these are the only ones that aren't clear wins for the new team. Hardly a massive regression.

Bare in mind that you have to consider the player's as of 10 years ago - so I'm pretty sure Terry, Cech, Lampard & Drogba of 10 years ago are better players than they are now

Wouldn't be much of a forum if we all agreed

In that team of 10 yrs ago, where is Eidur Gudjohnssen. I fking loved Eidur Gudjohnssen. But probably not enough to spell his name right.

Both are very effective teams, but built quite differently. The current team is also a lot younger - 10 years ago we were buying established players offering the last years of their careers. This is a team that will continue and grow. Makalele was great but didn't have many years in him, Carvalho was no youngster, Gallas was good but became part of an Arsenal team that we beat pretty consistently, and had disciplinary issues.

I think you also need to consider how effectively players performed for Chelsea, not just in general - Robben, for example, never really performed at his peak level for us, and Joe Cole was never quite the world class player he looked like he could have been.

Edit....i just realized that was probably A.Cole not J. Cole. D'oh.

Fabregas is certainly world class, as are Costa, Terry, and Courtois. Dave and Hazard are almost there. Matic, Oscar, Iva, Luis, Willian, Mikel and Cahill are very solid...

Well quite, you guys are struggling to lay the first brick on a new stadium. Imagine the furore if you had to change your plans to include a trophy room! hehe
The stadium will only be built when Uncle joe & his second lieutenant sell the club with deeds & planning permission intact..

Hardly laughing though, is it? Not when you can belly laugh at your own before kick off.

Worst thing is Chelsea will get the loss out their system and go on a huge run.

What the hell has happened to Costa. He was awful away at Shcalke and dreadful today. Will I An has now started to play, just as Oscar stops performing.

Gap down to 3 points if Citeh beat Everton.

Still can't believe his playing for us. What a great buy.

Great finish by Schurrle tonight too.
