I said he was a good signing at the start of the season, and I think it's proving so; Remy is a very, very good striker. Perhaps not in that very top echelon with Costa, Sanchez, Rooney, Aguero, but he's probably the best second / backup striker we've had in a long time. He's miles better than the Spanish fella who was our main striker for too long! Costa being out again is clearly unfortunate, but with Remy leading the line I'm happier than I would have been in seasons past...

Not the most convincing performance, but I do think we dominated the game and deserved the win. Sign of a good team, winning at less than 100%.... I think we've enough points in the bag, Citeh have been inconsistent, and Arsenal can lose to anyone. So whilst it'll be a good while before we can settle on it, I think we'd have to have an absolute nightmare run in to lose it from here. No other competitions to distract us either.

I don't think we were that bad tbh, we had more possession, more shots on goal and in target. Once we got the lead, it was just about killing the game off. Stoke aren't an easy team.

Good thing with Remy is he seems to have the right attitude. Gets on with doing his job. He also seems to have that good strikers habit of being in the right place at the right time.

Agreed on the performance, but really Stoke didn't get much of a look in. No periods of pressure from them. We didn't ever really look uncomfortable, without truly dominating. I think we'll stumble over the line rather than cruise, but the title is the title however you get it.

Drogba was bloody useless though - his pace has fully gone, so when balls are knocked his way he just can't burst past the first man.

Agreed. A few years ago he would be getting on the end of them passes and destroying defenders, but age is catching up with him.

As a neutral, have always been a big fan of DD but one incident yesterday confirmed what you two have said.

IIRC, the ball was played slightly behind him, almost by his legs but he couldn't do anything to alter his running pace or change direction quickly and the ball was lost. Very similar incident, I think, to Arsenal's fourth goal yesterday where the ball was played just behind Giroud, he adjusted his feet, controlled and hit a beauty.

Sad for Chelsea fans but he will always be a club legend.

Sadly age catches up with us all in the end. Anyone remember how City were supposed to be our closest rivals?

That sending off! rage

He would've taken the 5th pen, and we probably would have beaten Man U in the CL final. I can't forgive that, regardless of subsequent heroics.

Wow, what a poor first half. No better than QPR, now that's not good!

We've looked better since Oscar came on, more creative.

Drogba totally inefftective.

We were poor today, QPR played good, but we got the 3 points. Courtois with two impressive saves. Winning whilst playing poor is as good as those 4-0, 5-1 wins IMO.

Yup, we can't win every game 5-0, particularly at this stage of the season when teams are scrapping for their lives, putting 10 behind the ball. We'll do it, and I'll wager there's still a 3,4,5 - nil result in us yet, probably against a stronger side than QPR who will allow us to play a bit. Next weekend maybe?

Some of the QPR fans were quite vicious, Ivanovic and Oscar must have learnt a lot of English laugh

I heard Ivanovic got hit by something thrown from the crowd, not sure if that's confirmed?
