Yes, the lack of movement in the transfer market is a bit of a worry because we are a bit predictable, so much so that Wenger has finally broken his duck, though happily only in the community shield, which they won last year too, and look how well their season turned out. I do think up front is still a big problem and am not convinced Falcao will do anything but be another Torres. With Costa injured so often we need another quality striker, though am glad Remy looks to be staying.

Cech would have stopped that. biggrin
Possibly, as Cech is a better keeper at the moment. But Courtois will be playing for another 15 years, and has the potential to be No 1 in the world.

Whilst still a great keeper I don't think he's been quite the same since his head injury

True but he's still at the top though it was unfair to make him stay and warm the bench. Good to see he was warmly applauded by the Chelsea fans yesterday, shame Fabregas didn't receive the same acknowledgement.

Looks like Pedro to Utd so that's another striker we've missed out on. I hope it won't come back to haunt us.

Doesn't sound like anyone except Liverpool were serious contenders for him...if he scores 20 plus goals everyone else will have egg on their face. Be interesting to see how it plays out! Apart from the first half of last year he's looked like a very good player. I suppose the suspicion is that he's not quite got the all round game for CL level. He certainly wasn't cheap....£30mil still buys you a hell of a lot of player away from the PL.

I think he's lazy. He drifts in and out of form, often doesn't work hard enough and his finishing isn't the best. Reminds me of Adebayor.

Easy to read too much into the Community Shield but a decent performance from Arsenal certainly and a quality goal. Chelsea missed 2 absolute sitters mind which you'd hope wouldn't happen when at full pace.

I took my son to Wembley (first time, thoroughly enjoyable experience). I do wonder if I was at a different game to some of you. I may be talking rubbish, as a lifelong CFC fan, but rugby player, I thought most of the team where, at best, average (Mr Hazzard in particular), and Fabregas and Ivanovic very poor indeed. They all looked very 'leggy'. Our 2 best players were Matic and Willian, followed by Courtois, and I thought Falcao looked much more of a threat than Remy when he came on. Just a shame no one was capable of passing to him!

Didn't see the game (Nurburgring is a decent excuse on here I think) but I've always regarded CS as a no-lose game. Win it? Great, we're in good form. Lose it? So what, it's a warm up game that means nothing. In this case we are (supposedly) a week or so behind the gooners in our prep, and played without some of our best.

As far as pre-season training goes, according to other sites the squad were in the middle of the high intensity stamina building phase of the build up, and, therefore might be expected to look a bit leggy. It'll be interesting to see who gets a run out tonight in another match that doesn't matter.

I'm off to see Chelsea v Fiorentina tonight which is likely to be a tough match as Fiorentina beat Barcelona in their last match.

I don't know if any of the teams are taking the International Champion's Cup very seriously but it'll be good to see the new squad stretch their legs.

Come on you Blues!

Not a single win in pre season is not good - whats wrong chaps? I know its only pre season but that is not the norm for you guys is it?

I have to admit I'm pretty concerned, mainly up front. With costa injured I have zero faith in Remy or Falcao. Niether has scored in pre season and neither has put in a decent perfomance. Neither look to be trying especailly Remy, (I hope they prove me wrong but I cant see it). When we are sending the likes of Bamford and Solanke away on loan I cant help but think they would put more effort and try alot harder than these two.

Still playing like the back of last season...no flair, no pace, no striker.

Seeing Falcao in the CS was like watching a rerun of Torres I'm afraid. No pace, no sharpness, nothing sticks, can't beat a man.....

We're doomed I tell ya doomed...

There's still time to sign a striker, but they need to get on with it. It's looking pretty poor and am astonished Chelsea are favourite to retain the PL.

Not much to say about yesterdays game; very much had the look of a season opener, we'll need to pickup fast for the next game. The keeper we planted at ArsenLOL seems to be doing a sterling job today though biggrin

We were the first team to have more shots on target than you at Stamford Bridge since Opta Stats was created.
