Suppose he probably couldn't do any worse than Mourinho at the moment... scratchchin

You've blown the title? WTF.
Were already 11 points behind City, most goals conceded and second worst goal difference. No way will Roman let this continue for much longer.
There is absolutely no chance of catching City now. (imo)

Second will be the best Chelski can hope for.

Would it be such a stupid decision though? We've already blown the title, he keeps the same team and expects different results, and it does hurt how his behaviour turns us into a laughing stock. After the Everton game he didn't seem to have a clue what went wrong, but aside from Klopp who is there to realistically take over?
Yes it would be idiotic. JM hasn't lost the ability to manage in a few weeks. There's clearly something wrong, perhaps with certain players. Maybe he needs to shuffle the team a bit more radically. Wednesday's game is massive for many reasons not least a bit of confidence.

Thinking the title is gone already is also idiotic. Arsenal overhauled Utd's 11 point lead in the last 3 months of the season in 97/98. Utd overhauled Newcastle's 10 point lead (at Christmas) in 95-96. I'm sure there have been other seasons where a team has overhauled a similar points difference in a shorter amount of time.

It's like the good old days when we'd be over the moon when we hit 40 points and had avoided the drop.

But this is 11 points after 5 games

Also, Chelsea are behind almost everyone. In the examples above there was just one team to catch.

Right now Chelsea need to win four more games than the Mighty Manchester Coty, but also more than Arsenal and United etc... A much bigger task.

16-1 on Betfair doesn't lie.

Yes, but it's 5 games. That means there are 33 games and 99 points left to win.

The champions usually achieve a total points tally of between 85 and 90 points. City have 15 points, so even if they have a good season, they're still likely to drop 24 points over the course of the season, whilst Chelsea can afford to drop another 13 before it starts becoming unlikely that you won't be in the title hunt.

While that is true, the thing to remember about Mourinho is he gets worse the more trouble he is perceived to be in. Once he hits a down slope he doesn't have the personality to get off it. It happened at Real, it happened at Inter, and to some degree it happened last time round at Chelsea. You've only got to look at his complete inability to see it was HIM at fault over his treatment of Eva and you can quite see how that could be edging it's way into other aspects of the team.

We've got the players , which is a good thing. Unfortunately Hazard , Costa and Fab are just not firing right now. A good manager will get them firing. One that starts looking to blame everyone else will not.

Indeed it doesn't. Those comparisons are from a different era though ....there are a lot more teams that can take points off you now.

That said they were much later in the season.

Chelsea are can definitely still win it but they can probably now only afford to lose 1 or 2 more games all season. Huge ask but can be done.

Yes, it happened at Inter, where he couldn't halt the downward spiral, and left having only managing to guide his failing side to Champion's League victory, for the first time in nearly 50 years.

Bloody hell, have we really got that spoiled and fickle that we're looking to change the manager 3 months after winning the League?

And are we really looking to change to a manager who spent most of last season in the bottom 3 of the Bundesliga?

I don't think anyone is calling for it, more pointing out that it's a possibility

If you look at Chelsea's last 9 games of the previous season they only won 3 of them. 2 draws. Chelsea performance dropped off towards the end of last season and it's a continuation of it this season.

I'm liking tonight's team

Putting some pressure on the same old faces

I know it's more about saving some old legs for the arsenal, but it's about time we put a positive spin on things

I've been wanting to see Baba and Azpi start on their natural sides all season. Fingers crossed it looks good.
