Seemed for a moment Costa was going to do a 'Suarez' and bite someone (Barry).

Might be a blessing not winning FA cup and having to play in the dreaded Europa league especially next year when we need to concentrate efforts on a Champions league qualification as well as rebuilding

I'm not seeing a massive difference between what Suarez did and what Costa has just done. Surely the FA have already set a precedent with regards to punishment.

Barry's complete non-reaction would suggest nothing happened

I'm sure you also saw that Benteke was fouled for a penalty last week too.

I'd strongly recommend a trip to Specsavers old boy & don't buy the rose tinted ones this time round wink

Chelsea would have been in a much better position if Benitez was still in charge, dross like Everton would have been swept aside.

Fortunately,I like Benitez and don't much care for Chelsea.laugh

Actually I thought the Benteke penalty was extremely soft and said so at the time.

But where does a bite become the disgusting, heinous act that everyone said it was when Suarez did it?! Look at the following replay. Costa has his lips to Barry's neck, I imagine Barry can feel Costa's teeth on his neck. The only difference is that Costa stops short of biting down.

You pretty much just said yourself he didn't bite Barry... Suarez quite obviously did bite Ivanovic and Chiellini, it's laughable to compare them. laugh I don't like Costa's antics either, but it's not even close to what Suarez did twice.

That was dreadful. Costa may have gone to bite Barry, but luckily thought better of it. But considering he was already on a yellow, it was a ridiculous way for a so called professional footballer to behave. He will be fined the maximum 2 weeks wages by the club, approx £240K, which is about £40 a head when paid out to the 6000 travelling fans, as it should be, to compensate them for the abject display. And Costa needs to issue a full apology to the fans.

Pedro, hard to believe he's a pro footballer. He looks like a pub player who's won a competition to play for a professional side. Beyond awful.

Congrats to Everton, the better of two poor teams won.

Given its taken him 6 games to score against us, and theres a good chance me Gran could have scored against Iva and Cahill today, I'm inclined to agree with him.

Even though Lukaku has gone on record since and stated your version of events was very much incorrect.

Major rebuild needed in summer me thinks, including certain board members who have shown they really don't have a clue.

Nom nom nom

your man was just saved from a long ban by the professionalism and lack of reaction by Gareth Barry. Many players including Costa himself I'm sure would have gone down clutching their throat even if he didn't bare his teeth.

Lucky man

I'm not sure there was much of a bite. It looks like he was going to do it, then just had a tender neck nibble.

Barry didn't even react in the slightest. If someone was sinking their teeth into his neck I'd expect a lot more than that to happen.

That is the point, imagine if that had been done to him. How a genuine foot ball fan can condone any element of Costa's behaviour is beyond me. He's an utter disgrace.

yes even if he did,ny leave a mark, it is quite clear the intent was there.

Think about it how often do you get that close to another man's neck.

Little bit of slo mo, some soppy music and turn the lights down and it looks like a tender moment from a rom-com movie.

To be honest, I don't care what happens to him. He, along with a variety of other players will hopefully be sold this summer and some players with commitment will be brought in. Id rather Traore be developed into something and the other youngsters, Loftus Cheek and Kenedy get more game time than see Hazard fail to turn up each week, Fabregas underperform along with too many others. Willian is about the only one who can hold his head up.

People have gleefully pointed out how Mourinho got things wrong but he was spot on about the major problem with this team that needed rectifying in summer and that is defence. They've been totally disorganised all season, and need reinforcing. If Conte comes I hope he identifies these issues and deals with them. Also I hope he brings players who can lead as that is missing.
