Maybe they can, but not by performing badly on purpose.
Mourinho mind games. Piss the players off, piss the staff off, rock the boat, big pay-off, eye on the utd job where others have failed miserably, lots of money to spend and be the great saviour kissing a different badge. Thats professional football I'm afraid, rolleyes
But why should we care, we have the greatest manager.......for now anyway whistle

We know how to win.

Difficult to dislike Mark Hughes because we named our dog Sparky after him but he makes Stoke an ugly bunch of bds.

Did you never see us under Pulis then ?
In fact Hughes made us quite pleasing on the eye until this season where he's resorted to long ball and Pulis's left overs like Whelan,Walters and Crouch to get us up the table after an horrific start to the season.

I don't know where he's taking us if I'm honest and I'm not sure he knows either

Good morning all.

I'm a long term lurker of the football forums and wonder whether anyone can give me travel advice to get to Stamford Bridge?

I have a ticket to the match today, but the last time I actually went to the Bridge was when George Weah scored the winner. I couldn't drive back then, but plan to drive down today from Cambridge, either M11 or A1(m). I want to drive to a train station which then has a relatively easy train and/or tube ride to the ground.

If anyone has any tips, I will be very grateful smile

Fulham Broadway on the district line is the closest tube right next to the ground. Otherwise Earls Court is a longer walk.

Fulham Broadway is the closest by far but as the day is looking so fine i'd be tempted to alight at Putney, East Putney or Putney Bridge Have something to eat & drink away from the crowds & leave yourself a nice leisurely 30 minute walk to the ground. This part of town is especially pleasant this time of year.

If it were me I'd just get the train all the way. Parking is a pain so leave that to Big Sam.

Or lunch outside at the White Horse. Parson's Green tube. And a shorter walk to the ground.

Many thanks all, most appreciated.

I'm thinking Earls Court in the hope it is a bit quieter. And get there via High Barnet or Cockfosters.

And then learn how bad this route is for next time!

As a college student, I went on Palace's coach to Germany. Not with the team, obviously, but parking the bus just reminded me of that useless information.

Not sure I understand what you mean, "quieter"?

Quieter for what?

Maybe you should have gone to the Arsenal away game if you're after quieter?

The Kings Head in Earls Court is a decent place for a drink and something to eat before the game, although they seem to have a thing recently with football fans, so if you're dressed as a fatter version of one of the players they might not let you in.

It's a nice walk to the ground from there through Brompton Cemetery as well.
