Ryan Bertrand has joined Southampton permanently.
For 10million, more good business...Andre Schurrle sold for £22m-£24m and Juan Cuadrado bought for £23m-27m. Can't get exact figures at the moment.

Bloody amazing prices we are getting for our fringe players in the last few windows. Nice profit on Schurle and a rumoured 10 million for Bertrand which leaves us with Cuadrado on board for a net spend of minus 8 mil. Cushty
That's not counting Salah, who, allegedly will be sold to Fiorentina during the summer, if he cuts the mustard during his loan period there. And he has every incentive to do that, as he must know that there is no future for him back at Stamford Bridge.Dblue said:

I am a little suspicious about the huge fee's Chelsea are getting for their not good enough squad players when most in the game are looking at cutting costs. To an innocent bystander one would think they may be being bankrolled by a mystery funder, but that would be nonsense i'd wager.

I share your scepticism BCM. The transfer fee for Luiz was, quite simply, inexplicable. I'm quite sure there is some sneaky back scratching going on.To an innocent bystander one would think they may be being bankrolled by a mystery funder, but that would be nonsense i'd wager.

Would take someone or a club bundles of cash to spare to carry out this preposterous theory , i'm clearly talking gobbledegook again.

....Mata to United - United desperate at the time, mid season, chance to pick up a top player. Everyone saying Chelsea mad to sell such a superb player
....Luiz to PSG - Arab money behind PSG, plenty of cash, deal done before World Cup, PSG took a gamble Luiz may have a blinder & win the World Cup his price would rise. PSG in more trouble than Chelsea under FFP regs so if there was a conspiracy it would have been to understate the price.
....Schurrle to Wolfsburg - looked at world beater for Germany at the World Cup.
....Betrand to Southampton - even average English players command huge fees these days.
Mourhino is very selective about the type of player he likes. He's not adverse to selling players that don't fit his mould no matter how good they are. He sells top class players which most others would not do.

Add Lukaku for £28 mil and Mata £37 mil chelsea certainly are doing great business in the last couple of windows.
We can't win can we?Owner spends a lot of money - gets slagged off by all and sundry.
Money is spent on, amongst other things, developing the infrastructure at the Club that gives a scouting network and a Youth Development setup second to none. That is starting to pay dividends now, when we are regularly breaking even or making a profit on player transfers.
Club is again slagged off by all and sundry for making a profit.
Talking about Youth Development, and specifically the U21's, we've another bright young prospect in Kasey Palmer who's been banging goals in for fun. Here's a link to him scoring a couple in the 5-3 win over Southampton.

Well, on the bench on Saturday we had Ake, Izzy Brown and Loftus-Cheek. Loftus-Cheek came on. Dominic Solanke has also played this year. I'm sure there are others who've got a game this season, but I cant be bothered to go back through the team sheets to answer a fairly poor attempt at a wind-up.When was the last time an academy player came through to the first team? Terry?
Edited to add, I forgot Christensen was also on the bench on Saturday.
