True. And it's far too armchair to try and speculate what was going on behind the scenes. But weren't his relationships the first time round lauded for how players would have done anything for him? But I do see your point entirely.
Relationships are a two way thing. Jose made some very big mistakes in the treatment of the players (privately & publicly) and for that he is 100% responsible. However, I agree with you that certain player's behaviour has been grossly unprofessional and I'm very surprised that someone with the resources of Roman, hasn't made an example and shipped some of them out. Reflects badly on all concerned and the game in general.

All comes down to numbers though doesn't it. They're not naughty schoolboys who could be punished, they're a collection of incredibly valuable assets. And you do start to wonder how enamoured Roman still feels towards his plaything, especially now its delivered everything it can do.

Well he still gets very animated watching the games. "He'll get bored of it soon" has been touted since the week he arrived, 13 years ago!

And even if he did he'd sell it to someone just as rich

Costa's pass for that third goal was a joy to watch as well

If the excitement of football doesn't diminish over time for a fan, why should it for an owner. I've been following Chelsea since the 60s, and I still love it. Winning the CL doesn't mean beating MK Dons is less important or enjoyable. Why can't the owner feel that way? Is he not human?

RA clearly loves football and has fallen in love with the club. I could be wrong, but I can see him still being around in 40 years time. Like a Russian Doug Ellis.

Not terrible but don't think we can stop them scoring at Chelsea

Pleasing performance. Really see PSG as one of the favourites this year and didn't expect us to have a chance to get through against them.

Pedro is looking a much better player now too - though still makes some poor choices at times.

By no means a bad result, in the circumstances we could have been out of the tie if not for some great defending in particular Cahill/ Ivanovic central partnership was awesome. Courtois did what he was doing all last season, and Willian continued to be the outstanding player again. Just need to get a full 90mins from Hazard. Diego still getting better all the time & now looks a goal scoring threat (now he's stopped trying to fight everyone !). Roll on the return leg, should be a good 'n.

Felt pretty embarrassing winning that game. History books will show us thrashing city 5-1 but that wasn't a city team, it was a youth team at best.

To be honest with their squad it was a pretty poor show to field that team. I don't recall Chelsea doing that. Whatever else may be said about Chelsea it's very rare, only in the League Cup I think that there is ever a weakened team put out.

Wonder if the FA will do anything seeing as he admitted he wasn't worried about the FA Cup? I'd be pretty annoyed if I was a City fan and travelled all that way to see that

They stopped that years ago when they gave Manure the chance to skip the competition altogether to go to the World Club Cup. Only thing in cities defence they did at least say it was a waste of money going as they were fielding a weakened team.

I'm not sure what the FA expect.

They move the KO time of the tie. City complain about fixture congestion and they will field a weakened team if it isn't moved back.

They don't move it, City field a weakened team.

I'm not sure why anyone is surprised.

It's about time we scrapped replays so teams have to go out and win it. Also remove teams that have qualified for Europe from the League Cup

I think a lot of it comes down to foreign managers and players, they dont get that importance of the cup to the fans.

English, well British & Irish, young footballers were brought up with the FA cup being the ultimate domestic competition that they all dreamt of scoring the winner in. "Mountford scores the winner for Chelsea in the last minute of extra time !!! and the crowd go wild !!!" I'm sure we were all there as kids, but to all the european imports does it really have the same romance- I think not. So it has become something of an inconvenience in their quest for European glory. ideaWhy do the FA not implement a maximum of say 3 or 4 foreign players for the FA cup so leaving the cup to kids who it really should mean something to. I know ,the only problem is- do the top teams actually have enough home nation players to enter !! Frustrated to see my childhood fantasy treated with such contempt.mad
