Shearer is a clueless dinosaur whose mindset is still entrenched in the direct / long-ball game up to strong, burly and clinical (except in cup finals and important international tournaments) strikers.
Fixed that for you

Whilst BR compares Allen to Scholes in his defence of him. Nonetheless I'm sure that as Allen grows in confidence he will play the forward pass much more rather than it not being a feature of his role.

It would appear so, but no-one really seems to know why.

I thought everyone was behaving so far...

Is this Joe Allen that has played 231 accurate forward passes and 57 accurate long balls out of 491 passes completed this season?

Assist? Through balls with a shot on goal?

Allen is a good player and will no doubt become an even better player but let's not use stats to hide the obvious.

I remember last season when there were some on here that tried to use stats to prove that Charlie Adam was a dynamic midfielder that covered more ground than anyone else.

Reina's compatriot Suso has made an immediate impact having broken into the first team this season and the 18-year-old revealed he is on the verge of signing an improved contract to replace the one which expires next summer.

"Liverpool is the ideal club for me," he told Radio Onda Cero.

"I'll sign a new deal soon and be here for a long time. The fans can relax, it'll be done as soon as possible."

Excellent news!

I don't mind admitting I was one of the people who were wrong to try and suggest that the stats showed players like Downing and Adam were better than they actually are. I don't think Allen is anywhere near as bad - he has impressive stats, and he bring some much need stability to the midfield/holding midfielder role, especially with Lucas out, but let's not kid ourselves, little of what he's done so far has been dynamic or "carved a defence open". But he has shown glimpses of it, and if he's been told to do exactly what he's currently doing, then so be it.

Excellent news indeed. I can honestly see Suso being a GREAT player for our club in years to come.

BR has first class communication skills?hehe

"Ok lads, ok, we need to pull together, ok, and do a job, OK, on these guys, OK. We have the ability, OK, and the spirit, OK, (probably touched someone in a slightly creepy way at this point, maybe talking quietly at one point to someone), OK, so out you go, OK, and show them, OK, what you are made of, OK... OK... Erm... OK."

Morgan and Yesil! Yesil seems like a pretty natural goal scorer, a trait that no-one in our first team possesses.
