So again, I ask, which Premier League proven goalscorer do you think we could buy?
I don't mind if its someone from the PL or overseas, as long as they have a proven record. And to be honest, I don't care who it is as long as they score goals. LFC don't pay me to choose, I just hope they are paying people who know what they're doing this time.
fked up royally with the Ince saga didnt we ?
Austins goal record in all leagues:
2006–2007 Kintbury Rangers 27 (20)
2007–2008 Hungerford Town 30 (5)
2008–2009 Poole Town 42 (48)
2009–2011 Swindon Town 54 (31)
2011– Burnley 64 (34)
Not a bad record for a 23 year old, but the premiership as we all know is a complete different venture than the lower leagues. Grant Holt is a striker that springs to mind having a good goal record in every league but struggling to think of another.

I think Rickie Lambert would be another and he's settled down to life in the Premier League at Southampton. Austins goal record in all leagues:

Why does it have to be recent? It does not happen now as most dont take a punt like they used too.Austins goal record in all leagues:

We will spend millions on a youth player and he might not make it, why not spend a few million on a player who has scored goals at every level bar the prem?

Yes but how many can you name ?? Thats my point there are exceptions, but more flops than heroes. If were mentioning people like this why not raid Swansea again and sign Danny Graham ? Is this the type of players the once might Liverpool Fc are looking at signing ?
Not sure if you were replying to me or the other poster but you're right, there aren't too many of them.Lambert's record is good...
Blackpool - 0 in 3
Macclesfield - 10 in 41+12
Stockport - 19 in 98+12
Rochdale - 28 in 65+3
Bristol Rovers - 59 in 139+16
Southampton - 94 in 164+9
Total - 210 in 510+55 (1 goal per 2.7 games)
Jordan Rhodes has excelled too...
Rochdale - 2 in 5
Brentford - 7 in 14
Huddersfield - 87 in 129+19
Blackburn - 11 in 17
Total 107 in 165+19 (1 goal per 1.7 games)
Charlie Austin's record is prolific enough....
Swindon - 37 in 58+7
Burnley - 38 in 57+15
Total - 75 in 115+22 games (1 goal per 1.8 games)
Grant Holt's for comparison...
Sheffield Wednesday - 4 in 15+15
Rochdale - 42 in 83
Nottm Forest - 24 in 83+26
Blackpool - 0 in 4
Shrewsbury - 28 in 51
Norwich City - 73 in 130+17
Total - 171 in 366+58 games (1 goal per 2.5 games)
Of those four, I'd rule out Holt on the grounds that I don't think he'd fit into Rodgers style of play and both he and Lambert are the north side of thirty. Austin looks good but the one I'd have taken a punt on would be Rhodes. He is sheer quality and will score goals wherever, once settled.
That said, really Liverpool fans might believe they should be shopping in a different store than this which really only leaves proven scorers at the top level. Therefore, you're looking at Bent or Defoe.

Bit of both in my reply bud lol. I just think Liverpool should be looking at a higher caliber of players, but if they can score goals then id be happy i suppose. Id rather buy Ince & Austin/Lambert than Sturridge
Yep I agree. I believe i've said it before but i'd rather spend £12mil + wages on energy drinks for the team over sturridge. Really do not rate him at all.I'd like to see us get Ince and Bent personally.

There aren't that many strikers that are proven at the top level. Players like Austin and Rhodes are at least proven in English football and I would expect that once they settle are the sorts of players that will get goals. Liverpool need someone who gets into the box and takes up a position where he might score. They don't seem to put enough players in the right areas to feed off scraps.Lambert's record is good...

They might not turn into huge successes like Rush and Aldridge (cut my football watching teeth seeing Aldo destroy defences in the white shirt of Tranmere) did but for the right money they have to be worth a try. That's the trick though isn't it - what's the right money. Given Liverpool's current financial situation the money they want to pay is unlikely to be what the Championship clubs in question are asking for.

The CL has exacerbated the gulf between the haves and have nots. Must admit I agree that the merger might well be a better idea.http://www.thisisanfield.com/2012/12/dilution-of-c...
