It is clear that Wenger rates him. He caused Arsenal problems when he was playing for Newcastle. And whose mouth did it dribble from?

And you reckon him, with his 8 goals is the answer?
Not a proper out and out striker...

8 goals and 11 assists is not to be sniffed at really is it?
As for what we need, the sorry fact is also what we can afford. He's not signed a contract and we could pick him up for not a lot of money. He's still young and has plenty of years ahead of him.
Whatever he costs would be mostly offset comfortably by what we offload Downing for.

True, but conversely he would either be benched behind Sterling or stop Sterling getting game time. Whatever is available to spend might add well go on a proper striker rather than a winger. I do quite like him, but he's not a great fit for us at the moment.

I agree it's about what we can afford. And we can't afford a great deal it would seem, so I would rather it was all ploughed into a top class front man, rather than a winger who will want extortionate wages and who hasn't fulfilled his potential.

I believe he wants to leave arsenal because they won't play him as a striker so he won't join us to become a winger so starlings place wold be safe. I would take him on a free to play as a striker.

Doubt he'd be free and he will never be prolific.
I want a proper out and out striker.
And that ain't Walcott!

And that ain't Walcott! We have a good striker, he was sent off to Wet Spam. Do you think Brendan wants an out and out striker, I am not sure he does.

Of course he wants a striker. He wants one similar to all the best LFC strikers in the modern era. Rush, Fowler, Owen and Torres. And what did they all have in common? Pace and movement. What does Andy Carroll lack? Pace and movement.
As for our defence, many of the goals we have conceded are down to individual mistakes rather than systematic failures. Under Rogers Swansea didn't concede many considering their resources and, if we give him time, Rodgers will tighten us up at the back.

(I guess based on trasnfer window activity) The topic was "an out and out striker" Not sure Owen fits in with my view of an out and out striker.

Typical that many of us were arguing against Walcott being what we need at Liverpool as an answer to our scoring problem, only for him to score today.

Wouldn't know much about football manager. Do know enough about football to think that conceding the number of goals we are doing whilst not having a real striker upfront isn't going to end well. As for switching to another formation. How about we start with one that isn't conceding as many as the 433 we're playing regardless. If you really think that such a suggestion means football manager beliefs and HRs ridicule then I think there's something else going on here and I'll leave it at that.
