That's true, and applies equally to Chelsea winning it in May. But I am not deluded enough to believe we were remotely close to being the best team in Europe at the time.

Absolutely how I see it. Cup competitions are brilliant. As we have seen recently, they have a magic about them which means an underdog CAN do well, mainly because it is 'at that moment'. Have a good day, or a bad day, and you are either in or out. The league is the long haul, and whomever wins it does so deservedly. That is why in my mind a league win is 2 or 3 times the worth of a cup win. Of course that is not to say I wouldn't bite your hand off for a cup win, because I would. I've been sharpening my teeth and everything.
