Official Liverpool FC thread Vol 5 - "Next Year Is Our Year"
Discussion
you really do know when you are considered to have joined the mid-table rabble on a permanent basis by the the way the 'big' teams get the decisions against you in important matches.
You're all now starting to blame the ref with references to him being United's 12th man etc...
Welcome to the world of us Spuds and everyone else who isn't Chelsea, Man City or Arsenal.

In other news just seen this on Twitter.
@thisisanfield: We're hearing Martin Kelly's injury is a bad one, at least 6 months out. Expect more news later.
TBH IM I am not blaming the ref, yes some decisions went against but there is enough minutes in the game to correct them. I am more pleased than anything how we played, there is so much doom and gloom at the moment but for me its only a matter of time till we start climbing the table.
Were not gonna get top 4 but we will be in the shout of the top 6 and considering yesterday we had a 17, 18 and 22 year old in midfield with 10 men and still outplayed UTD we have a very promising future.
Rodgers has been here 3/4 months and there are slow signs his methods are starting to kick in, give us another 8 months and of training and playing and new players brought in we will do OK.
He is also giving the youth we have all spoke about for so long a chance and I am sure if you watch the game yesterday you can see we have some very decent young lads. Suso is going to be one hell of a player also, we have another couple of equal quality still waiting to get their go too.
Enrique for me will be on his way out, we need another CB and another striker, if we can get that either this Jan or next summer we will be a really good time.
I have mentioned it earlier but I cannot praise Johnson enough yesterday, for me Valencia is one of not the best but also the strongest and he was immense against him in not only defence but taking on there fullback.
Also note on Gerrard, playing as the 2 with Jonjo ahead suits him so much better, he was quality yesterday for me.
Injuries update from Paul Rogers: Early @LFC injury update: Borini (severe bruising, not serious), Agger (not as bad as 1st feared but more tests due), Kelly looking bad.

Unfortunately your opinion is wrong
Sorry Craig but thats picture is very one sided. Evans had already won the ball by that time, with his studs pointing to the floor, and this picture shows the position after Shelvey has already committed the offence without winning the ball, and has already changed the position of Evans foot with his tackle. This photo prooves it... in your photo shelvy has already missed contact with the ball and hit Evans's legs.TTmonkey said:

Sorry TTMONKEY YOU are wrong, 2 footed challenges = RED NO MATTER if you win the ball or not as the follow through 'can' cause SERIOUS damage.Nice to have the thread back , thanks mods . IMO both players went in two footed the ref shouldnt have sent jonjo off but should of booked them both. Both penalty shouts were soft , if Suarez didnt fling his head back as if he was caught on the end of a fishing line we may have got it.

Shelvey has applogised for getting sent off, thus showing that he realises that the tackle was worthy of the red card.

Oh do get a grip girls, jeez. The first time we get dumped on from a great height by Barnsley (or whoever) in the no-name cup the Spuds thread'll be full of piss-takers.
You mob are so touchy.
Please lighten up, then this thread definitely won't go 'on top' again.

wasn't he one of our best players last season? or even voted player of the season. Naa quality player, slow start for him yes but I think Rogers system suits his style of play personally.
Had 4 good months then was awful for rest... Not sure why the massive change but he has started this season how he finished the last and is not worthy of a starting place although he will be back if Kelly is out.http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=cdxYa603O8c
- Shelvey didn't go in 2 footed.
- Shelvey actually went into the tackle using the side of his boot.
- Evans went in two footed, but in fairness he won the ball.
- When Evans made contact with the ball first Shelvey blocked it with his tackle however his foot then went into Evans's with the momentum.
Before the ball was won
Evans obviously made more of it than it was. Sadly that's what the game has led to nowadays. Tackles will be punished like it has considering the consequences the tackles can bring, especially players being paid £2M+ a year.
Shouldn't have been a red and I think Man Utd supporters wouldn't have said much if only a yellow was handed out.
I'm glad Suso got some playing time against Utd yesterday, in my eyes shows that he is Rodgers's plans. Hopefully when he has fully matured he will gain strength along with Sterling.

Agreed. Definatly think Evans won the ball before Shelvy got there. I think red card was harsh, I think Liverpool played better and deserved the win, the penalty was debatable at very least, red card was harsh but seen them given for less (and not given for worse). Man U were rubbish but got all the points.- Shelvey didn't go in 2 footed.

When your luck is out, its realy out.
Prediction - next three results for liverpool are poor - Norwich, Reading & Stoke - Point at Norwich and Reading, beaten by Stoke (Owenhat trick!!!) but you get your first win of the season in the Derby. Fek.

I have just taken this pictureFor me you can see Jonjo's left leg is not near him, his right foot has clearly got to the ball 1st and the UTD lad is 2 feet off the floor jumping in. He has no way of controlling himself here at all, so for me it should have been Red to him and nothing to Jonjo as he clearly got the ball.
Ref cannot obviously see this at normal speed so we should appeal.

The Ref definitely had a big say into how this matched panned out, and as usual, into United's favour.
We regularly get pens at Anfield do we?Stop being a sore loser, the ref made a couple of mistakes, they happened to be in our favour, if they had been in your favour, you wouldn't be moaning would you
