That line of argument is specious at best. In effect it says The F.A. replaced Terry with Ferdinand, therefore there is no requirement for an England captain to show restraint in his personal behaviour.

It's like saying my mummy told me the tooth fairy is real, therefore the tooth fairy is real. It's judging a position on it's source rather than it's merits. It's founded in this case on the notion that the F.A. is infallible. Which it isn't.

I think the England captain role should carry extra gravitas and they should behave accordingly and take the role seriously.
Agree with this 100% but sadly it's not the case anymore.
Unfortunately mickk, I don't think I can remember the last time it was the case.

No & that's the difference, We live in the real world & not the world we would like to inhabit.

I cannot stand John Terry. Once he was removed as Captain it should have stayed that way.
As a player he's past his best and it's probably right for him to retire (2 years before a major tournament) regardless of other issues.

Having said that, I cannot believe the FA's stance on this, which seems to be that having said, "those words" he's guilty of racism no matter what the context. If that's the case, surely Ferdinand should also be charged?

"You called me a f*****g black c**t"
"I didn't call you a f*****g black c**t"

Surely that's the same?

As an aside, in the round up of Terry family highlights one was missed.

For all Terry's faults, I think it's a bit much to blame him for the suicide of a man who's fiancee had an affair with Terry's brother. In fact, it's probably a bit much to blame Terry for any of his family's antics. Surely Terry's own back catalogue of issues is enough for anyone to complain about.

The Daily Mash.....excellent. hehe

I wonder, can we pick an England 11 that are role models. Players that (to date) have not put a foot wrong, be they innocent or guilty of the charge against them.

Joe Hart stays in goal, a recall for Paul Scholes, Cahill at the back, and Lescott? Scotty Parker comes in. Gerrard, Lamps, Rooney, Rio all unavailable for selection.

Can we pick a half decent team?

Parker's out after his gambling habits were exposed (c£40k a week a few years back)

Yes, I'd foprgotten that. So he's a gonner. Cole and Glen Johnson are out too. Defoe is out (womanising/driving offences). Andy Carrol is a no go. We're struggling here. We can't win anything with a full squad of reprobates, let alone weedling out the deadbeats.

Michael Carrick can go back in there, I think.

We keep focusing on Terry's adulterous behaviour whilst avoiding his violence, racism and general underhand behaviour. He is an abhorrent human being. Don't get me wrong, Ferdinand and Gerard are little better.

Yes but because all the others are like that to a greater or lesser degree...it's alright.

Carrick, Walker and Baines look good, not heard anything dodgy about them. Is Micah Richards eligable. I seem to recall something negative but not sure what. Might have dreamt it.

Up front we are struggling big time.

Found not guilty chief. And the general underhand behaviour? Parking in a disabled space? Just as well we haven't still got capital punishment.

Not blaming (John) Terry for that, just adding it to the list of delightful antics his family have got up to. In fact, as it's John's older brother, and we've already seen what his parents get up to one can hardly blame John Terry for how he's turned out can we? In fact he's the innocent one in all this.

(I do not think for a minute that John Terry is the innocent one in all this)

So, our team of England angels:

Hart

Richards/Walker Lescott Cahill Baines

? Scholes Carrick Bertrand(perhaps)

? ?

Three positions to fill. And a long term replacement for Scholes.
