A season of much hilarity for Watford, Millwall, Charlton and of course Bright*n fans starts here as Palace undoubtedly get regularly stuffed.

The only thing is that (for the time being anyway) Palace are in the premier league and the others are not, and even if we get relegated next May we'll still be millions better off.

tongue outbyebye
Palace will not be getting "stuffed" in the premiership. The owners are extremely good businessmen. They will be investing their money very wisely. The team that will be fielded in the premiership hasn't even been formed yet but still the many "experts" are writing them off already. I think they'll have quite a successful season.

Watford effectively cheated last season by using a loophole which has now been closed. It was closed for a very good reason, it gave significant advantage to certain clubs. Palace and their owners/management were too clever even though Watford had a massive advantage.

You can't be cheating if you aren't breaking any rules. Wasn't anything to stop any other team loaning as many players as they liked from abroad. I suspect it was sour grapes on most parts.

Nobody batted an eye lid when the same group of "cheating loans" played absolutely pants for the first few months of the season.

I do find it amazing the attention and hostility Watford got for finding a legitimate way to compete with the larger clubs without splurging millions upon millions of pounds, yet people seem to find it alright that teams like Chelsea, Man City can effectively "buy" titles and cups.

Yes, the loop hole has been closed (something Watford voted for as well) and they have just got around it this year by signing the majority of the loans so it will be interesting to see what people have to complain about this year when they are mainly permanent signings.

Palace fans conveniently forgetting their club using loopholes to sign a player on loan from they club they just sold the same player to. Wasn't the scorer of the promotion winning goal also on loan?

I can't wait for Palace to come to The Emirates, were going to annihilate you as are most of this league. I think your going to be the worst side in Premier League history to be honest.

We may be, but then again we might not. What's likely is that there will be some surprises on the way and Palace fans will have a ball. We'll see... We're just happy to be there. We might make a bit of noise at the new library too. biggrin

It must be tough on you gooners looking down on the rest of us from your lofty position of assumed success year after year, just a bit frustrating not to actually win anything... laugh

EFA: Arsenal ladies won something a couple of seasons ago. Nearly forgot.

It's all relative. When we won at Wembley it was a great day for us because our expectations are low. Enjoy next season, just don't get a nosebleed up there! wink

Palace had a player on loan, yes. However he was from the football league, not a foreign club. The loop hole that's been closed has been related to load players from foreign clubs.

Selling a player, pocketing £15 million quid, but keeping that player is as much of a loop hole as loaning multiple players from abroad. If a player is sold...he's sold. Should go to the team who bought him.

Neither the scenario above or the multiple loan arrangement that Watford had last season broke any rules and so thus neither team is cheating. Palace gained an advantage from the Zaha "sale" just as Watford gained an advantage from the loan system.

Well done to both teams for using initiative - needs to be done in an age where £8.5 million buys an average league one player! wink

I know, I'd be embarrassed to publish "we've paid £8,500,000" for Dwight Gayle" as well wink

Seriously though, I sincerely hope they didn't pay that figure. Decent strike rate for Posh, may turn out to be an excellent signing.

Headline figures mean nothing as a very large percentage of the fee will be based on performance as he is so young.

Here we go on the roller coaster of our return to the Premier league.

The incredible highs of last season are now behind us and according to most experts Palace are certs for the bottom three, so let's see how it goes...

Day 1, Spuds. I can't wait! beerbounceclap

Jerome Thomas from West Bromwich on the wing
Steven Dobbie, Dwight Gayle, Elliott Grandin and Marouane Chamakh, all forwards, from Bright*n, Peterborough, Blackpool and Arsenal respectively.

An encouraging (although ultimately pointless) performance yesterday against one of the top six clubs gives us some basis for optimism. Palace were certainly not humiliated and largely defended quite well.

Far too little creativity or chances up front though.

Jedi's performance was a highlight and the fans were magnificent.
