Me too. I've read that Anelka's leave is indefinite. It's understandable given the situation but we're light on real goal threats now.

I'm backing Long to score 10+ this season and we'll need Sinclair to score those solo goals he does so well.

Following Clarke's press conference this morning, we must surely be in the market for a new striker now. No knowing when/if Anekla will return.

I was just coming here to post that. We really should by another quality striker now if there's a good chance Anelka wont return. It'd be a dream to borrow Lukaku for another season but the chances of that happening must be zip.

It's such a shame if Anelka does retire. I would have loved to have seen what he could do for us after such an impressive pre-season.

Got to be worth asking....especially if Chelsea get Rooney, Willian. Lukaku may feel he's too far down the pecking order again.

So if Long picks up an injury (which is likely given his track record), Odemwingie leaves or plays with the reserves, we're left with Rosenburg and Nabi who arent going to get us goals. The only other striker we have is unproven at this level - Vydra. He might score a hat full for us, but he might not.

I'd call that pretty light.

Putting aside Long who will get goals in the Premier league, we need another striker who is guaranteed to get us 10 goals to be safe. Everyone else should be considered back up to Long at the moment, at least until we see some proof that Vydra can bury them on a regular basis.

lukaku would of been wise to have another season with us, he will sit on the bench every week at Chelsea, and we will miss him massively.Im not to confident any of our strikers are good enough,as much as I like long for his work rate I do not think he has enough goals in him

It seems Anelka will be picked this weekend and Clarke has ruled out all possibility of Lukaku coming back on loan which was a given really.

It's not looking too promising on the incoming transfers front.
