You don't make nearly 150 appearances for Barca unless your a little handy. He's fundemental to the way Barca like to play.
That is what I mean though, he's obviously a very good player but considering he has 150 caps for Barca and 60 caps for Spain I really don't see what is that great about him. I think Yaya Touré is a much better DM.

He's reading of the game is second to none. He also has the ability to turn defense into attack in a single pass.

The role in which he is used, means these two attributes are essential. He's not an Inesta or Messi, he does a lot of the ugly work which can go unnoticed. But he's bloody good at what he does.

He's the modern day DM. A 'holding midfielder' one of the very best around

All IMO of course.

You're not on your own thinking that.
One of the best DMs around.

No Madrid thread so I'll post it in here.

A front three of Bale, Ronaldo and Suarez would be fierce.

Bale came good when he was given a free role across the forward line and taken away from being specifically a left winger.

Ronnie already occupies that role at Madrid, ergo if Ronnie stays Bale will be shifted out left again.

So £93m to not play him where he's at his best/most effective! This won't end well for Bale.

Don't think this is true. Ronaldo plays from the left, cutting inside. Bale does the same from the right. Could work very well together.

Especially when you factor in the BT money. Crazy move.

Goony cracked that one earlier. You must have the same script writer but Goony pays more.

Was good to see Atletico beat Real biggrin
Simeone has a good set up there. Costa seems to have stepped up to the plate when Falcao went. Doing very well atm.

I remember a while back there was that chat about the Barca shirt being too sacred to be adorned with a sponsor, hence Unicef (who apparently Barca were paying).

Then it changed to 'Qatar Foundation' (another charity) but now I notice when playing Celtic, it's 'Qatar Airways'. Money talks.

Really enjoyed that. Entertaining stuff.

When they took Bale off Real turned into a different team.

I give it two seasons ...

I watched the game in a hotel lobby full of Real & Barca fans , really enjoyable

One poor chap had an "Ozil 10"on the back of his white shirt.

These Spanish fans seem to be more interested in the refereeing than the game,

Bale looks well out of his depth at Madrid.
