While temperatures plummeted across Britain last night with heavy snowfall particularly in the west of the country, Swansea City fullback Angel Rangel put a call out on Twitter asking for the location of homeless people in the Swansea area.

Rangel and his wife then set about driving around Swansea looking for homeless people to give food to. A homeless shelter came to the rescue and gladly accepted the sandwiches that Rangel and his wife had ready to give out. Bravo.

What a star clap

I hate the bad press footballers get for just doing what young men do (shagging their mates wives and the odd drink drive ban etc), I'm sure there is more of this good stuff going on than is reported.

Footballers do a lot of stuff in the community. Pretty much every club has events, charity fundraising, and so on and so forth.. Here is just my club, who have opened a free school in the area as well, http://www.evertonfreeschool.com/home/

Only on halloween. He's not allowed out at any other time. It is the same with Phil Neville. far too ugly to be let out without a hessian sack on his head. here is a pic of 'our Phil' on his way to a charity do in Liverpool town centre.

Utd had a player called Luke Chadwick, but I am too scared to google an image for you.

They do but its not very newsworthy is it, people are easily led by the media into thinking all footballers are s but forget that there's thousands of them and only 6 or 7 regularly appear in the news for being nobs

The difference here appears to be that he did this off his own choosing whilst sitting indoors. Made up sandwiches and went scoring the streets.

This wasn't a planned/organised charity event. Not that I'm decrying the acts of other footballers.

Top bloke. I believe he was in a sandwich chain where the owner said he was about to chuck out the sandwiches so gave them to his wife and him and then they drove around. So he didnt quite put in as much work as you suggest wink a fantastic gesture nonetheless. It is blooming cold out there too.

Top bloke.

I have met Rangel and he is an extremely down-to-earth and normal individual.

I think it helps that his footballing roots began in the lower leagues of Spain through to League One and an incredible rise with the Swans. His history was grounded in reality where he was paid a relative pittance while playing in the lowest Spanish divisions.

It is only now that he is earning good money and even then, about £10k a week is incomparable to what some 17 year olds are currently being paid.

Top bloke.

From what I remember reading, last year he was on £250 a week? As a prem footballer, he didn't ask for more until he re-signed this year.

If that is the case ... £250 a week for a Prem footballer. Just shows there isn't greed in all cases. ( theo etc. )

May not be 100% but I hope it is.

yes

He was a shocker, I'm convinced his deformities effected his career. He was quite a handy player, but vomit ugly.

I think he was on more than that as he has been our first XI right-back for several seasons now. He certainly would have got a contract increase due to being promoted to the Prem.

You might be thinking of Ben Davies, our 19 year old left-back now standing in admirably for Neil Taylor - on £400 a week.
