On life support in America.

One of the greats. Get well Gazza.

Well done to Evans Lineker and Morgan offering to pay for the treatment.

Poor guy - never been on top of things from day one frown Simply didn't/doesn't have the right mental state to deal with things.

Sad news if true. But I don't think he'll ever be able to kick the booze. He's had plenty of help, but been like this for pretty much near 20 years, I'm not sure how much sympathy I have left for him.

They can spend all the money in the world sending him to exotic clinics here there and everywhere, but if, as quoted, he still "can't imagine life without a pint" then he is fked and will be dead very quickly. Only he, and he alone, can make the break away from that mentality

Very sad news but not a surprise. A flawed genius if ever there was one ~ the best English player of his generation IMO.
His tears at Italia 90, that knee injury in the Cup Final, Lazio, the goal against the Scots at Wembley 96 , the dentists chair, the comedy tits he used to wear, Hoddle booting him out of the World Cup. Strong memories.

Come on Gazza son, pull through.

Me neither, mostly related to that cup final injury.
He needed help way before that.

Sorry to seem harsh, but I think a clean end for the guy is better than 30 years of addiction and suffering and endless photos of him 'looking at a pint' of beer etc.

Wasted his own life, he chose his own tragedy.

Not sure what's best for him. He can't even really go out with a bang, now.

Harsh. Drink is just as addictive as fags, possibly more so as drink affects/grows hand in hand with depression/illness.
Does Gazza deserve help? sure he was a great footballer but hes had more help support than most people can dream of, the braindead tt had the world at his feet and was rewarded beyond my wildest dreams, I dont wish the lad ill but im sick of hearing about him, he has chosen his path and is walking it.

I'm not accusing or having a go etc.. but do you regard alcoholic tramps with the same view?

Gazza had an ace life, he fecked it all up, he chose his doom and has still had the comfort of friends, rich friends, and family etc

The main difference between a piss soaked tramp and Gazza is that Gazza could once kick a ball pretty well.

I hope he gets the help he needs. Some may say that he doesn't deserve it or that yhere are more deserving causes but not me, I think he is a good bloke that got hooked on drink and that the rest of his troubles stems from that one small but very costly mistake.

The definition of taking great, lifelong chances and ruining them.

He's weak and useless.
