I'm fairly sure and FA ban has to be served in England?

ie he could transfer to Europe at the end of this season but I think he'd have to face the rest of his ban when he returned.
Bartons ban carried over to OM. So assume that would be the case.

Would be amazed (though on one cynical level not massively surprised) if UEFA didn't step in as it could be deemed to be bringing the game into disrepute.
Why would they step in? He bit someone, the FA have handed out a ban. He got 7 games when he did it for Ajax, it's not like they banned him for the season or anything.

This is what I was going to say. His ban is in English football, so league, FA cup, League Cup etc. He could play in European competition if Liverpool finish high enough of course. I think if he transfers abroad in the summer (which I think he will do) he won't have to serve an FA sanctioned ban.

Transerring to Sweden would not work. Transerring to lower league in England would.

Ah ok. I didn't think it did. I thought his whole motivation for going out there was that he didn't have to sit out for 2/3 months.

IMHO he should be brought up on criminal charges too, given a big fine and community service.

What happens when he inevitably bites someone in Sweden and ends up getting banned from world football? smile

As a complete independent (well, Watford supporter) I can honestly say two things:

1) Suarez is a complete tt, and;
2) If I was a Liverpool supporter, I'd be both ashamed of him and supportive of the ban,

Bolton fan IIRC.

Aside from which team he supports, he does raise some very valid points.

Suarez will probably need the time until October to get over his knee injury, you could clearly see him hobbling around after the ref blew the whistle.

Bless.

Ah, I didn't know this was the case. A bit of digging around brings this up:
"Fifa rules state that sanctions imposed on a player prior to transfer "must be enforced or applied by the new association at which the player is registered".

Liverpool probably don't need to worry about the ban as he'll be on his way in the summer. They are only making noises to avoid panic fire-sale bids.

When Spurs bought Sebastien Bassong in the summer of 2009 from Newcastle he had a two-game ban outstanding from the previous season. But he played in Spurs' second game (scoring, against Liverpool) because by then Newcastle had played two games.

So by those rules Suarez is suspended until Liverpool play 10 games regardless of whether he signs for another club.

Not sure about that one, got the rulebook handy?

It used to say on the "suspended list" at thefa.com "suspended until the club have played x games". They've changed it recently.

But see http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/to... or http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_54840... if you don't believe me.
