Why have Arsenal allowed Thomas Vermaelen's contract to get within a year of running out? And now because of that it appears they are trying to get as much cash as possible for him so are considering selling him to a rival.

Seems like madness to me - if he wants to leave why not sell him for less money but overseas.

It takes two to tango, they cant force him to sign. I totally agree we need to stop selling our players to top premiereship sides, none of the other top clubs do it.

Chelsea let Mata go to United just last season.

Agree it has to stop, but I do sympathise with Vermarlen. He's far too good to sit on the bench.

He's not been a regular in the side for two years....last year he couldn't get a look in past BFG and Kozzer and the year before he was fking rubbish. So last season he wasn't going to sign a contract as he wasn't getting games and the year before people would have been livid if he'd been offered a contract....his best season's for Arsenal were his first two or three.

To be honest he didn't fill me with confidence when he did come in last season. Don't get me wrong I wouldn't be unhappy if he stayed, however I would be gutted if he left either.

It would be better to keep him this summer as we need to sign a keeper and midfielder in this window. I like have new signings however, I don't want too many new signings as it can be difficult to integrate them. Just ask our friends up the road.

Remember the promising DM, Francis Cocquelin?

Noted he played against Borehamwood. I wonder if he'll continue knocking on the 1st team door.
