I can not stress how pleased I am to have these players at the club early so that we have 3 weeks to work on things in training. I give credit to the board and Wenger for that (Yes - I really did just type that!)

Is Chambers really any better than Jenkinson? Seeing you are looking like selling him for only £3mil while paying £12-£15mil for Chambers.
He can apparently play RB, CB and DM. Wenger clearly sees something in him...he went after Jones when Fergie paid £16mil for him. Might look decent value in a year or so...who knows. If Jenkinson is going for £3mil you can almost guarantee there will be a very big sell on % or buy-back option....or knowing Wenger both.

:thud: It's much needed investment in the team. All the signings have been top quality additions that we needed. Preparation wise it's fantastic to have the players with us during pre-season so that the players can settle, get familiar with their team mates and their new surroundings. It means that the coaching staff can prepare the team properly for once and I think this makes a huge difference.
Overall very happy. I desperately want to fill that position in front of the back 4. I just don't know who we're going to go for? Personally, I'm not that enthusiastic about the Southampton player we've been linked with Schneiderlin and anyway I think he's going to Spurs?
Here's a complete left field shout; Jack Rodwell?

Agree on Schnederlein...he's not really a stand out option for me. I did wonder if he might be after Vidal he was quoted as saying he was the "complete athlete" during the WC...though that may have been Wenger putting people off the scent.
How many times over the last few years have we said "another two or three players could really make a difference"....right now it feels like we very nearly have two genuine PL quality players in each position.

Glad the Shinderlin trail has gone cold too. Should be looking at a higher class of player considering the talent in midfield, Kadehira/Bender/Pogba/Vidal type quality is what we should be looking at.
Hoping Jenks gets loaned rather then sold, as has been said its great to have players who live and breathe the club around.

Yes, we are pretty much there in terms of numbers and quality at last. Just that DM position to fill, that may be quite a challenge to be honest. :thud: Didn't see this coming if it's true http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-...
Well we all know Wenger likes short players (Quinero is 5ft 6in) but not Santi leaving.....really hope that's not true. Don't know much about Quintero but some of the vids make him look quite tasty.....

I know it doesn't rule out him leaving but the Atletico president at least appears to have ruled out a move for Cazorla:Well we all know Wenger likes short players (Quinero is 5ft 6in) but not Santi leaving.....really hope that's not true. "Many names have been mentioned, but none of those players, neither Cazorla, Callejon, Torres nor Chicharito (Hernandez) are on our agenda. If we sign another player, it won't be any of them".
They did seem to be the main club linked with him.

Talk of Quintero (sp) doesn't make sense. Why go for this lad when we could have got Fabregas?
Personally, I don't think we need this type of player. I want the club to focus on the DM position and not get distracted buying players we just don't need at this time.
There was some media 'talk' of Carvalho. Personally, I don't think we need this type of player. I want the club to focus on the DM position and not get distracted buying players we just don't need at this time.

The Cazorla thing has been rumbling on for a while now , Santi is quoted as saying he did not want to leave I think the rest is all internet hype and gossip "Many names have been mentioned, but none of those players, neither Cazorla, Callejon, Torres nor Chicharito (Hernandez) are on our agenda. I think he looks like someone who can offer threat from wide positions which is why I think he maybe makes sense instead of Fabregas.....we have a ton of players that can play in the midddle of that three but nobody in my mind who is a natural on the left. Cazorla and Poldi both look like "square pegs" to me in that position. Personally, I don't think we need this type of player. I want the club to focus on the DM position and not get distracted buying players we just don't need at this time.
That said I agree....DM has to be the priority. Seems to be speculation there are two more midfielders coming in though.
